With the weather chanell......NW is not NE.....anyone with me....

the autumn winds here in WI appear to have changed over the last ten years or so.  Memory says we got a lot more W to N quadrant winds in days gone by during my bow season.  The last several years it is almost odd to get those winds.  I am sitting at home today because the marsh I hunt needs a W to N wind or it blows my scent right out to the bedded deer.  It is looking like S winds all week.... I better scout the other side of the marsh this year.

I've learned never to rely on the weather reports.
Where you hunt has more to do with wind direction based on topography. Hills and valleys will channel the prevailing winds in all sorts of ways. Just watch the water flow in a rocky stream and observe how the water reacts as it flows over a rock or around it. Air does the same. The only time I can rely on the forecasted direction is if I can get on high ground with no obstructions to alter the wind direction. I'm no meteorologist but that's the way I see it.

They've sure caused me a lot of frustration waterfowl hunting..

I was glad they were wrong this morning. Prediction said 55, truck said 41, toes said it was cold

I'm with you Tim. Wind was supposed to be southerly (S, SSE) last couple days. Down in the holler it was pretty much non-existent but when I come out and hit the field it's blowing in my face from the N NE.

Weather forcasters...they get it wrong all the time and they still have a job making big money, must be nice.

Yup they can't tell which way the wind will blow in two hours but they are telling use that the weather in ten years will be awful hot if we don't start driving electric cars.   :dunno:

Well, to quote the Nobel Prize winning American lyricist Robert "Bob Dylan" Zimmerman:

You don't need a weather man
To know which way the wind blows

Right on, tonight while I envisioned a truck pulling a giant tank, to big and heavy that i didn't think it would fit through the highway 18 bridge into SD that was about a mile away, with the ground moving, the leaves raining down with the branches shaking and that odd rumble.   There was no wind.  My wife said the ground moved and made her feel funny, the branches shook by her as well.  The weather channel missed that one.   There was no truck with a giant tank on the highway a mile away, it was an earth quake.  Monday, we made no plans to go hunting, RAIN LIKELY FOR FOUR HOURS.  Not a drop.
