He really took time with me at the TBOF shoot last March and gave me a shooting lesson that I'll never forget. He was a man of faith & family. Prayers for Linda and the entire Graham family.

Ben's funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 8535 Lee St, Mt Pleasant, NC.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Ben was a very good bowyer and an even better person.  He was a dedicated father and husband.  Always willing to help others, especially when it involved traditional archery.  He was an active participant and supporter in many traditional archery clubs and organizations.  He was my friend and I am a better person for having known him.

Wow sad news. Ben built one of the finest Longbows I have ever owned and shot. There finish is second to none. RIP Ben.

First, prayers go out to Linda and their family.

My go to bow for many years has been one of Ben's creations. The moose in my avatar and screen name are the result of that Hummingbird.

RIP

I have owned and shot a number of Ben's bows. I couldn't keep them for people who shot them and then wouldn't leave without them. I never had one that didn't shoot well.

At one time I was really into making and shooting primitive bows. I had written on one little short Osage bow the information: 130# @ 36" and gave it the name "Humbug" as a joke. At a local shoot at Ben's club he ask to look at the bow. He flashed a smile when he saw the info. I think that it amused him.

Now Linda is another story. She shoots a bow better than most men, and that includes me. She is about the only person that I can think of who has beaten me consistently.

Goodbye Ben, and God speed. You have been a friend to many of us!

Archery isn't something I do, it's who I am!
The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.

Scott Thomas posted for some time on the prayer forum of Ben's struggles, then his passing.

RIP, your work is now finished here, Ben!

Ben was a master in the collection of great bowyers that we have. I have often said that of all the best shooting bows that I have shot, most of them were Hummingbirds. He was an uncompromising craftsman.

Yesterday someone came into the shop with one of the most awesome looking longbows that I've ever seen. You may have guessed that it was a Hummingbird. Not only was it a beautiful bow, but it was quiet, fast, and accurate. Yes, Ben reached a level of achievement that most of
us can only dream about. RIP Ben, you have fought a good fight.

Linda Graham was a very supportive and important partner with Ben. (Karen says that behind every good man there's a great woman.) He could not have reached that level of excellence without her. Karen and I won't be able to be there today for the funeral, but our prayers are for Linda and the family. God bless you all.

I did not know him well but I know his faith has secured his place.
