I just don't understand why anyone would not let you look for a dead deer.  I can understand why they would want to go with you or have a game warden go with you but to just refuse and let a deer waste like that is wrong.

Here is what I found with an internet search -- this seems to be consistent with what CEW says above:

Kansas

Trespassing is permitted by licensed hunters in order to pursue a wounded game bird or animal, except that if the owner of the land instructs the hunter to leave, the hunter must leave immediately. Any person who fails to leave such land when instructed is subject to the provisions of the criminal trespass law.

Did you ever hear back from the game warden you called?

On those other sites, some of the posters must put broken glass on the floor along the other side of the bed. Then they make sure they wake up and roll out on the "wrong" side on this glass. They want to spend their day being mad.

In Kentucky, and most states I've lived, you must have the permission of the landowner to go on property without it being called trespass.  The state advises the hunter to seek permission before hand or after. If permission can't be gained, the local CO should be contacted who can help mediate. As has been stated here, most states's CO's have the authority to go on private property with cause.

I support laws that require permission to "trespass".  There are too many dishonorable "hunters" out there who will trespass with bows or guns in hand and them claim to be looking for a wounded game animal. In fact, they are often simply hunting without permission.

In fact, if my state sought to liberalize such trespass permission, I would attend the regulation meeting and oppose it. Something I have NEVER done as a civilian.

Some people don't want anyone on their land for any reasons....you'd think they guy would let ya though.
I'd start hunting farther from the fence now that ya know what ya do...

You'll never believe it guys! I found him! I took half a day off today and went searching, believe it or not I found him on the walk in! He was close to a pond not but 100 yards from where I shot him. My best guess is that he circled back to the water at some point. My phone went dead shortly after I posted this morning and I found him right as I was needing to leave for work. I'm one lucky guy today!
Unfortunately the meat that was left was not salvageable and the critters had pretty much cleaned him up.

I just got home had to run back to work but I'll be loading a few pictures I snapped into photobucket and posting as soon as possible

Congrats on finding him! To bad about the meat but it happens every now and then.

If we're not supposed to eat animals ... how come they're made out of meat? ~anon

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

That's awesome Michael!  Congrats buddy.  Sorry you lost the meat but that's a gift to recover what you did.

I was told by KDWP that you have the right to go onto private property to retrieve game. If the Landowner finds you and asks you to leave you have to leave.
You were defently told wrong and will find your self in jail if caught. You should never put your self in the position we're a bow shot deer can make it to someone else's property to begin with. But things happen in this game we play be prepared, but I don't recommend Tresspassing with out permission.
