A little background.

I've been shooting traditional for two years now, but just couldn't get my accuracy where I wanted last year and fell back on the training wheels. And have had a lot of highs and lows preparing for this season. My setup is a bodnik slick stick chucking easton 2317s with a 200gr grizzley up front.

Now on to the good stuff      :)

Start the night getting geard up with the soon to be father in law and jokingly saying "I got a feeling a deers going down tonight" we both chuckled a little and continued out back to our separate stands.

I get out and see that the neighbor is out in the field that my stand sets on the edge of picking his corn. I have an allergy to corn so i almost turned around and headed back to the house but opted to tough it out knowing deer would be moving (thank god I did!!!)

Almost immediately after getting up in my stand two doe move into the field being picked to my west never coming closer than 40 or so yards so I just sit back enjoy watching them. Then another doe comes in around 6 and joins in on the feast of freshly cut corn

Around a quarter after 6 all the does and moved on west around 100 yards so I sat back and went back to my normal slow scan. I check back in on the does shortly after, look up... Antlers

Immediately my buck shakes kick in over drive and my heart goes in my throat (terrible nerves with bucks)

he proceeds to start chasing the does, eventually into the woods north of me. After about 5 or 6 chases back and fourth all through the woods the does come out pass by me about 15 yards to my west. I decided to pass on them in the hope he'd keep chasing them right by me and sure enough he did, and he's not one of those little guys running around he's a beautiful 9 point

He comes to a stop at about 20 yards perfect broadside, the kind of shot I've been dreaming about for 2 years putting so much time and effort into getting ready for. I draw pick my spot and release....     :(    immediately my heart sank, I knew I just made a bad shot.

By some miracle I spined him and we quickly dispatched him.

I apologize for the long post, but I cannot describe how happy I am harvesting my first deer with a longbow and I would have never been able to do this without all the help and guidance I've gotten from this site. I thank all of you for being a part of this amazing place and making this possible for me.

I don't have any way of posting pictures but i could email or text them if someone is kind enough to post them for me

Congrats!

Now that you got that one out of the way, your shakes will fade away...   :D  ...

In all seriousness, congratulations and thanks for sharing!
