I'm on Greg's list for a Falcon or Elkheart. I'm thinking of having the wood(s)all native to Michigan. Does anyone have any bow done like that? I'd love to see pictures. Thank you

My Elkhear is maple veneers with cocobolo riser, but could just as well have had fancy walnut in the riser - both native MI woods.

Chuck Deschler posted some pics on Facebook of some really wild, crazy birdseye maple. That would look great too.

Some of the prettiest woods native to MI that come to mind are the types figured or ambrosia maple, figured walnut also sycamore.

Blackheart sassafras can be quite striking too.

I'm a fan of keeping it native....I have an Osage longbow on order with Maddog Archery right now.

Ive got a maddog that is osage, with black walnut,  and honey locust. My intention was to use some wood types most common around me.

Curly or quilted maple is pretty.  Some figured walnut for riser and maple veneers would be classy and native.

Nice looking bow Bladepeek. I like maple. The walnut maple sounds cool as well. Thanks Guys

Walnut riser with curly maple would be my first choice also.

I love this ambrosia veneer, walnut cores, and Birdseye maple riser.  Nice trip of woods.

That's a good combination. I love the Birdseye. Nicely done.

Steve Turay has made bows out of native MIchigan woods. He recently made a Ramer that way. The ash was even cut by his Dad.

Big Jim made this bow from wood from my property here in IN. Nothing exotic, but very personal
