I am thinking of getting a pronghorn 1 piece long bow.  I had a 3 piece some yeas back and killed a few deer with it.  it was a 64" but I have started liking 62" for tree stand and ground blind hunting. anyone bought a bow from herb lately?  I assume he still makes them

Yes; he is still building bows. I just talk to him today. He is doing good and still building bows. I actually ordered a 3pc from him today. I already have a 64 inch 3pc. This time I went with 62 inch. Give him a call. He has a ton knowledge and a pleasure to talk to.

my older 3 piece was a 64" but was thinking of getting a 62".  not much but seems to make a lot of differance for me in ground blinds and some stands

Yes Herb is still building bows. I'd venture to bet this is a good time to call and order a bow too.

This is my 3pc Pronghorn longbow. 64 inches. Red elms limbs with curly maple riser. Shoots really good.  

The red elm limbs are really sharp looking. The pictures just don't do it justice.    


Also Mr. Herb feels that the red elm makes the best longbow limb.

I have several 1pc Pronghorns at our farm in Aiken.  I'll be back after I hunt Iowa Nov 4-15th...probably the 3rd week in Nov.  You're welcome to come and try them.  I also have several 3pc Pronghorns.  I like the 1pc better...tippit

ok. I talked to herb. going to get one.  now I owned a 3 piece and liked it but have never shot a 1 piece but as a general rule I like 1 piece better. which pronghorns do you guys shoot?

Herb would tell you the one price stores and delivers energy better. Glad you are getting one you will love it.

I think a one piece bow is smoother than a 3 piece bow.  I can't tell the difference between a one piece and a two piece bowbolt though.  That just me as a lot of shooters prefer 3 piece bows.

Congratulations. You will love either of them. Have you decided on the woods yet? If you like the one piece bows the best; go with it. What length ?

for what its worth (and it aint worth much)  I am not a 3 piece man, most 3 piece bows I have felt were a bit too heavy for my taste.   But the 3p pronghorns are some of the lightest and slimmest 3p I have shot.  I was instantly a fan after putting a handful of arrows down range.

I like mine alot.  I got it used and it shoots great.  It is a 60 incher,  63@28.  I shoot 29 inch 80-85 tapered surewoods with 190 grains points.
