I am considering getting a Ghillie but the deer spook so easy here in Pa that I have reservations on whether or not they would work...What has your experience been?

I thought this was a big doe at last light as he was making his way through the grass.

Ghillies work anywhere.  Of course, the ability to sit still is paramount.

This doe looked right up at me in the tree and spooked but stopped for a second look...to bad for her. Trimming is essential to allow for movement

Ghillies work everywhere, deer spook everywhere.  Get a decent one, learn the tricks to using it, give it a chance.

I think ghillies are the up and coming thing for bow hunting.  Like tree stands their usefulness will wane as deer get wary of them.  For now..they work.

Michael Arnette

I was wearing a gillie when I shot her btw just not in the picture

Sam McMichael

If you can be still, they are very effective.

Play the wind and have fun.  Ghillies work very well!

Absolutely, a bad idea,

Have had deer come within inches of stepping on me when hunting public land.

Wore one on Saturday had 2 does at 15-20 yds. They saw me but couldn't figure out what I was. One blew once when it first saw me, then they just milled around for several minutes before finally leaving. Never had a shot on either; the only time they were clear they were pretty hard quartering to or dead on. Anytime they were positioned right there was brush in the way.

I was back in some brush with some brush cover behind & above me; think I was still big enough and I was something new that wasn't normally there. They poked their heads up over a rise. It was a different part of the property I hadn't hunted before. Just my luck I was right in front of where they came in. At least the wind was right. Few times I thought I was going to get a shot; they just didn't walk right for me.

I hear ya. It's tough on pa Public lands.

I used to hunt the ground allot. I'm pretty much exclusive  back to trees. Few opportunities I get I can't afford to blow a single one. So I'm back in trees.
Have used gillie type before. Asat. Unless I had one heck of a spot to hide I would use a leafy suit if I had to hunt the ground.

The rut you can luck out on a rutting a rutting buck. The rest of a season. No. good luck.

Deer see movement more than anything else.
