Awesome deer!  I had a spike go by last night could have shot but it didn't feel right so he got a walk I have seen bigger deer.  So far this morning I had a deer blow up the morning. THEN I hear a snap and nothing for10 minutes then I hear crunch. Turn around and a nice body 4 point. He knew something was up and I think he might of got a little wind. HE took a hop then walked back the way he came.

Well, I wish that there was more of a story to tell but here it is.  This year started out poorly due to an injured hand and my shooting was horrible.  I decided to shoot my Bighorn 55#  rather than my 65# Predator.  I was able to shoot a doe  and build my confidence and had been getting several big bucks on camera.  I decided to hunt one with droptines and he had been showing up pretty often but never in daylight

Yesterday the wind was perfect for this spot and I had been hunting from a climber ( very rare for me) and just knew that I'd have action.  Then I heard the unmistakeable rhythm of a deer's gait and stood up and readied my bow.  Now I couldn't see the deer approaching and really was having difficulty deciphering which direction I was hearing the steps come from.  Then he  materialized 20 yards to my left and I couldn't believe what I was looking at.  I only had a few seconds to shoot before he reached cover and I didn't even think to stop him.  I just reacted and sent my cedar shaft tipped with a 125 gn Zwicky into motion. I hit him perfectly and saw him drag the arrow as he circled my stand within 10 yards.  I attempted to nock another arrow but it wasn't needed. I saw him tip over less than 100 yards from where he'd been shot.
So,  I wish I could tell you that I had been hunting this buck and had finally outsmarted him but actually I was hunting another buck.  It all happened so fast I didn't get the shakes until after I had shot.  That's probably why I had made a good shot!

Mike, I was shooting my bear takedown most of the year but decided to go with my Bighorn longbow and takedown.  Hope it pays off like it did for you.  Good job.

Nice shot Mike, makes it all sweeter on a brute like that. What a tank.

Out yesterday had a 4 point show up in the morning. No shot and then saw 3 coyotes in the evening. I tried lip squeaking them in but they stay out at 50 yards.
