Well I've tried to buy a recurve and get hunting good out too 20 in 1.5 month's with little knowledge and no one to talk to. I figured out twisting your string which was huge as my 6 in bh was causing horrid groups and beating my arm black.
Trad gang helped me pick arrows which helped with arrow flight a lot. I learned the hard way to limit shooting sessions to under 100 arrows ,more like 30. YouTube taught me to focus on back tension during my release. I loaded up on sound suppression stuff and now have a whisper quite bow. The last 2 days my accuracy is getting fantastic. 8 out of 10 shot would hit a foot ball at 20 at 15 I could cut one in half. I moved a deer stand yesterday and made it so that my farthest shooting Lane was only 15 yards. I do believe I am prepared for deer season   :bigsmyl:

When my shoulder went ewwww I loaded up on trad heads for a 45 pound compound. Amazing what I saw next. Using 2 blade heads I shot 2 deer twice and saw several more act as if nothing had happened. Never thought I would be using trad heads with a trad bow. Crazy!!!!

Great preperation.  Just one tip.  Practice from shooting out of a tree stand.  The height and angle takes a little getting use too.  Feels different than from ground.  Good Luck!!! Lets see your success pictures later.

Good job! I'll sit back and wait for some stories! Use the heads you have. They will be fine.

Good Luck... Use the heads that fly the best and you can sharpen at least moderately well.

Shot just 15 arrows today. All shots were gtg. I have one tricked out HIGHDOLLAR compound well over 1500 in value, and it's gonna be my back up to a 139 dollar 45 pound sage.

Hey txcookie, I am an experienced bow hunter of 55 years and I have several high dollar recurves and I am hunting this year  with a 40# sage due to heart surgery and a bum shoulder. I have got it tuned in and quiet and it shoots great. I have all the confidence in the world for this season.

Yep, inexpensive doesn't mean cheap. If the $139.00 bow is getting it done, then it is a fine bow. Most of us who shoot the higher dollar bows started off with lesser expensive rigs. To tell the truth, most of us just wanted something fancier.

With careful and studious research you can find "high dollar" bows that have enhanced design features that amplify what the TRAD bow can do...

Many good bowyers have burst from the mold and are out there trying things to get the most out of a simple stick n string.

I had a few custom bows, till I found one bowyer who invested heavily in equipment to test theories and then took the time to test and learn.

Sometimes high value is a price point that is predicated on what lies beneath...sometimes its purely looks, or ...?

in the end, it's the injun behind the bow and the sharpness of the bh that kills the deer along with placement in the boiler room.  Many bows can do that, and some shooters can pick up nearly anything and make it sing!
