whats better to touch up a broadhead? jeans or a arkansas stone?

1000 grit sandpaper on glass followed by stropping on cardboard....yep, plain brown cardboard from a box.

i have a kme, how much pressure should be on the cardboard using the kme?

Jeans?  Never heard of using jeans to dress an edge on metal.

Hard to describe how hard light is. Just as long as you are not pushing down on the blade. Just try to hold contact with the stone.

I'm not a big believer in the sharpen on jeans approach either. Having said that I've been known to do it, but I'm not sure how much it really helps.

Hard stone followed by a leather strop.

It depends a lot on the reason for the touch up.I use various grit,wet or dry sandpaper,these days and the amount of dullness or possible presence of edge nicks,after a shot,dictate which grit.If you are talking about just stropping to remove a burr,that's a little different.I strop on cardboard mostly.

The suggestion of using 1000 grit sandpaper is a good one.I use the KME mostly but occasionally I just freehand the edge with a translucent Arkansas stone that is 1/2"x1/2"x6".That puts a nice polish on the edge of broadheads that have been in the quiver for awhile.

get you a good piece of thick leather, buffalo. I get mine from flint knapping stores. get some smurf poo and rub it in there real good. if your BHds are good and sharp anyway, or you just mmmmmmiss - you can strop it on that leather and it will be hunting sharp -

if you carry that leather and a small 6" groabet file you will be set in the field.
