Practice, practice, practice!  And take lots of notes, on any and everything you can think of, so you don't keep making the same mistakes over and over.

When you get ready for material, shoot me an e-mail at chad@recurves.com .  I usually have some extra stuff lying around, and at a bargain.  I have a few serving tools and some wax at the moment as well.

The wax I use I pour myself, but Bearpaw makes a good commercial wax for making strings, as does 3 Rivers.

Cheezer

Thanks Chad! I'll definitely be sending you an email soon.

Couple questions after shooting with it for a bit.
1) can overtwisting the string cause arrow flight to go left?
2) I got .21 serving, and it still seems big for my nocks. Should I go to .18 size or just get different nocks?

LBR

I couldn't say for sure on the over twisting...I haven't shot a string that was over twisted in 20 years or more, but I don't remember that being a problem.

If you like the nocks, get a smaller serving.  I keep .007, .014, .015, .017, .018, .019, .021, .024, .025, .028, .030, and .032 (if I didn't leave any out).

Came across this on you tube. A fourth way to do the bottom loop?

Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

Good folks here. Two string makers advising another fella on string making. Can't beat it.
God Bless
