I went out this morning. In stand at 0600. At 0830 a doe appeared 40 yards out. Took her 10 minutes to get to 14 yards. She suddenly locked up, started stomping and blowing. Wind felt good, but she knew something was up. At the first snort, a fawn came out of the field. She decided to turn and go back where she came from. Glad she didn't give me the shot, that fawn would be an orphan.

0900, same trail, same spot, another doe came in. Maybe same one, who knows. Two fawns in tow. Wasn't interested in a wet doe or fawn. They too locked up and retreated. As soon as they were out of sight, I got down. The wind at base of tree was wrong. I thought it may be swirling.

Not a 1/4 mile from where I parked, a coyote ran in front of me, heading towards the land I just hunted. I'll whack him given the chance too.

I stayed home this afternoon waiting for an important call that never came. I'll try to get back out Fri. or Sat. evening.

Well I saw a lot of deer this morning but the closet one was 35 yards. This aftenoon was uneventful, I'll blame it on the moon.

Will try again tomorrow...I'm in desperate need of tenderloin
