I dont post or contribute as much as I used to. You know how it is life just seems to get in the way sometimes. I always manage to check in once or twice a week to see how you guys are doing.    :)   Now a days I spend most of my free time practicing and trying to get better. I am constantly trying to be the best whitetail hunter I can be. Well tonight all my hard work finally paid off .

Can someone help me post some pictures? I can email them if one of you guys will help me. Thanks

Tim

Im not going to drag this out to long so I will get right to it. For the past 5 or 6 years I have really learned a lot about deer hunting. Here are a few points that helped me a bunch:
1. If you want larger bucks you have to let the small guys walk.
2. Never Never Never ever hunt a stand or blind with a bad wind. (Practice Scent Control)
3. If you want to be good with Trad gear, you have to practice and put in the time.
4. Pre-season Preparation is essential to being successful. Its about getting close, so you have to put the time in to figure it all out.

I have been running cameras in the area since about late July. I had a bachelor group of 5 bucks that were running together, but all the pictures were at night. There were 2 shooters in this group. One was a mainframe 10 the other was a tall 8 point. About a week ago they started showing up on camera about 7:00pm almost a full hour before dark. Our season opened on Saturday and it was hot as everything, and we had a southeast wind. I needed a west or NW wind to hunt this particular spot. I was lucky enough to get that last night.

I got in the stand at 3:00 pm. At 7:10 on the dot the 2 shooter bucks came in. The 10 was in the lead and walked right in like he was on a string, he gave me a 12 yard broad side shot. I concentrated on my spot and my arrow was away, I saw the feathers disappear into his rib cage. He ran about 40 yard and stopped. In a few seconds he tipped right over. I was so excited I could hardly climb down out of the tree.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.
