Deer season finally arrived and i was anxious to get out. The first night i sat a apple orchard that gets hammered by deer. The landowners appreciate taking a few out of the herd. Its pretty awesome as my stand is maybe 8 ft up a tree and often times the deer are really really close. Its so thick in the trees most shots are under ten yards. A couple hours into the night i got my chance and made good. We brought in our Wirehaired Daschaund pup for her first real track.

Two nights later found me on the edge of a field i had scouted. Public land and 25 to 30 deer a night coming in. I had to act fast before others messed it up. I headed in and hung a stand and waited. The night got super windy and no deer were showing. With only a half hour left i thought it was a wrap. Most deer here come early or not at all. Then i looked left and saw 4 bucks rapidly approaching. I had to make a spur of the moment decision and the brain said shoot! In seconds i was at full draw and shot. At first i thought perfect than i thought too low and back. Within 100 yards the deer laid down. A few minutes later it was up and slowly working out of the field. Hunched up.. Crap! Gut shot! Well after dark i slipped out to return the next morning. Of course it rained all night. After 6 hours of searhing my dog found this! Good start to the year!

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki
