Hey guys i have a summit viper climbing stand however i cant shoot my recurve out of it because of the bar, is there anything i can to do make this stand work? i just got it last season and used it a fe times its a nice stand and would hate to get rid of it, any info or help would be great thanks alot

A thread exists about a fellow Ganger learning to lean over the bar and leaning to shoot well. Perhaps you can figure how to do a search for it. I have the Specialist and it and the Open shot are without the bar. I'm not sure but perhaps you could find just the upper of either one. Best wishes!

You could try the Summit Razor. It has a climbing bar that folds under the seat when not in use. Otherwise its the same as the Viper.

I have the Razor and love it, but I don't think they make that model anymore.

I just bought a Viper SD, but haven't even unboxed it yet. I'll be setting it up and shooting out of it tomorrow.

The bar "appears" to be low enough for me to lean over and shoot. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Of course, I always use a harness and that should help.

The trick is to set the top lower than you normally do. I can shoot my 62" longbow out of it with ease. I do not lean out over the bar, I only touch my thighs to the bar and then do the bend at the waste as you're supposed to do.

Yeah, Daniel I did that when hunting out of my Ole Man makes standing a hair more difficult but gives a lot more clearance. I bow hunt only now so I decided to get an open front. Not as comfortable as my Ole man but good for 5 hr. sits.

Buy a Hazmore seat for it. It allows you to install it so you do not sit down deep into the upper frame. This allows your upper section to be set closer to the bottom half and still be comfortable. When you stand to shoot you have more clearance for your lower limb.

regardless of the seat you should still be able to shoot out of it

I shoot out of my viper fine, as does both my sons. We shoot 58"-62" bows out of them

Like previously said: just set the top and bottom of the stand close together when up in the tree. It is uncomfortable to sit and difficult to stand up but you should be able to get decent limb tip clearance.
However, I bought a Summit Openshot SD 2 years ago and I absolutely love it. No front bar to get in the way and the lightest climber I've ever come across. Don't know if they still make them...

Are you trying to shoot while sitting or standing. It shouldn't be a problem if you're standing.

I put my seat high up with the top rather than it hanging down. Then as stated sit the top low, mine goes all the way to the bottom section nearly. Then I stand and can shoot my longbow or recurve out of it with no issue.

I went to an open shot also. I always kept my seat off and put the top part of the climber as low as I can cold get.  I would then stand the whole time.  It is nice to sit.

how do you put the seat higher?

Take,or cut the bar off. Or, buy an Open Shot and sell yours.

id like other options before selling it, the stand is pretty much new

This is what I do also. ^^^
I too had problems with my lower limb hitting the bar and losing two animals.
I raise the seat as high and tight as I can so the cushion is even with the bar, then lower the top as low I can while staying comfortable. You don't have that highchair enclosed feeling anymore, but after a couple sits you will like it better.
Now the only problem is getting the cushion seat out of the way of your knees enough to climb. I believe that's where the Hazmore seat comes in handy.
