I'll be in the Gatlinburg, TN area all this coming week starting tomorrow for a family vacation.  Wife told me to take a day for "me" while we are up that way.  I'm gonna bring a takedown bow and some arrahs just in case there's an opportunity to sling a few.

Anyone know of any shoots in that area this coming week or want to hang out and sling arrahs and 'shoot the ****?' I'm a young feller but have an old soul, so I enjoy talking shop with young buck or ol' mossy horns alike   :D

PM me if you know of any shoots or would like to host maybe I can make it work.

Check out cades cove while your there. It will get ya pumped for deer season. I would recommend going in the evening to maximize the wildlife encounters. Deer, bear, turkey, and coyote. Its a big loop you drive around. It's fun for the entire family.

I lived there awhile back for a summer and know the area well. As mentioned, Cades Cove it worth a look. If you go over the mountain on 441 into NC. Check out the Cherokee Indian reservation. The museum is cool and has Archery related info. Maggie Valley is a neat town as well. And if you want bonus points with the wife take her to the Biltmore Estate in Ashville. Just Sayin.   :)

Another vote for cases cove. If you are a hiker or a runner it is best on Wednesday or Sunday mornings, as it is closed to vehicles until 10:00. I've ran the loop many times and always enjoy the country, and see deer and bears.

If your lucky you may see the elk in Cherokee.

Have a great time Chuck!  I love that area.  My Dad lives in Knoxville and going up into the Smoky Mountains is the best!  As Jeff mentioned above, they have introduced Elk into the area.  Last time I was there a few years ago, I didn't see any, but I bet there has to be some folks in Cherokee that know where they are.  If you visit Cherokee, you might want to inquire about that to see if you can hike to where they are.  Can't hunt them (yet), but it sure would get your blood movin' just seeing them!  LOL!

I was there in the summer. Saw Elk and deer and tons of Turkeys.I would go to Cherokee for sure. My favorite spot is farther south in North Ga. Rabun County is the most beautiful place on earth. RC

As you can see the area has a lot to offer. Enjoy your trip and travel safe.

Cade's cove is a must..  We watched Black Bears there. Drive across the line to Cherokke.. Beautiful mountains and a lot of history..!

I was there in 04. Elk were there then in the Park. Lots of Black Bear as well.

I'm sitting in the parking lot of the cherokee casino right now. The museum is really cool. Some nice archery related stuff in there. If you get a chance go up to clingmans dome in the park. At 6643 ft it's the second tallest in the East. Cades cove is full of wildlife so have your camera ready. the elk herd is doing really well.
