Was looking at some of my trail cam pictures and this fawn looks to have a white face . But I can't tell for sure .
What do you think ?
Is it just the spot pattern ?
Or could it be piebald ?
If he did all he could do;
what did he do that was all that he did?

Don't think so, but a better pic would definitely help solve the mystery.

I agree with Bisch. Looks like a normal fawn...but a better pic would let us know for sure.

Tough to say - there are so many color variations that can fall under the "piebald" category...  I think it does have some coloration - finitely looks to me like it's white around it's ear which is more than just spotting.  Hopefully you'll get a better pic.

Well that's where I will be hunting this October , might just get a better look at it then .
Would be kinda neet , I haven't seen a piebald in the wild for more than 20 years .

I have never seen a piebald deer in the wild. I have seen several melanistic deer though!

"Piebald" would be black and white.  "Skewbald" is brown (or any color other than black) and white.

At least among horses locally.  ;-)

That ain't so with deer. Almost all piebald deer are brown and white.

This is a piebald white tail deer .
At least that's what the Michigan DNR calls them .

always wanted to find a calico out in the wild. Never seen anything but the plain janes.

Graps, are you guys in Michigan cross breeding deer with Hereford cattle? That fawn looks like a white faced calf with spots. Cool!

This guy is right in front of my stand-I'm not in it.

here's a clip I shot of a piebald fawn feeding with a normal fawn on my property a couple weeks ago. We've lived here about 14 years now and see several fawns each season, this is the first piebald I've ever seen on the hoof...

Honestly,I don't think it's a piebald...the top of the head looks brown.
