Anybody have any problems using carpet tape with cold or hot temperatures? I'm using it to tape on a piece('s) of leather on my shelf.

No problems with the NC cold, heat, and humidity.

I've used it for years to attach leather to my bows .
Never a problem .

I've used the indoor/outdoor version (stickier with fiberglass backing) in my neck of the woods to good effect:  leather to strike plate, multiple types of fabric to shelf, even as a base for tight spiral wound flu flu fletching.

Long exposure to humidity is usually what warrants a re-taping...

Sorry, but I will be different agian. For years I have used the carpet tape. That was until I moved to AZ. Our "dry heat" turns the glue to goo. My rests slipped, my leather grips came off. I made the switch to 3M mounting tape for outdoor use. So far it is holding up. My only complaint is the tape is thicker that carpet tape.

Thickness could be an advantage if you're trying to build out your strike plate a little. Do you think multiple layers would work?

McDave, I have only used two layers at once. I added a layer to a brush rest on a more than center cut riser. So far so good.
