John and I fly out to Anchorage on the 12th to start this year's moose adventure.  Last December first the day we committed to the air taxi service, John pointed out a new rule on their website.  It seems that hunters weighing 280+ no longer got the 50 pound allotment for gear and had to pay for a gear load to bring their stuff.  I stepped on the scale and it said 296.  Crap!!  time to get serious.

Bought a fitbit and subscribed to MyFitnessPal.  Went to work.  Two a day workouts and tracking every calorie.  Yesterday morning I stepped on the scale at 241.4 pounds.  My goal has been 240 before the hunt so I think I'll make it.
Going to be nice to put the 50# pack of meat on my back and know that I still weigh less then I did in December.

Now to get all these bows built and out of here before I leave.

Heck, just keep losing weight Mike and see where it goes.

Have a great time and kill a big one. I'll be looking forward to the hunt story.

Heck.... you will probably run down and tackle the moose now !  Congrat's on your weight loss.  Go have some fun.  Be sure to take pix either way and tell a great story on your return.  Many of us will never hunt Alaska so we live vicariously thru stories of hunts like yours.

That's the plan Charlie.  As soon as I get back from the hunt back on the program.  Looking for 220 or less by next summer.

Nice to hear that. I've been watching the weather up there and have noticed a few cool mornings in the 40F range. I'm sure some frost has been occurring in the hills. Heck last year I rode out an overnight snow in late August, though I was at 4k' elevation. This morning I'm seeing temps in the low 50s up there. Remarkably I had 53 here at my house this morning.

Good luck Mike.

Kevin with the late season we are hunting this year I'm sure we will see colder temps then previously.

Flying in on the 15th and out on the 28th.

One of our goals this year is to get a video of the shot.  Going to take some serious planning to make it happen.

Congratulations on the weight loss. I have never done it Although I could stand to loose 30-40 lbs myself.
