Thinking of going shorter, just not sure how short. Anybody have experience shooting bows this short? Looking at a three piece takedown G#L recurve. I am fascinated by the idea, just not sure how practical it would be for my only bow?

I've never shot a bow under 52" so I can't say how something like a bear super mag would feel. I've got a 28.5" draw and have gotten to where I don't like recurves under 56" or longbows under 60". What is your draw?

If the finger pinch doesn't bother you , they are just fine .
My wife has a Bear Super 48 , 40#@28" .
I've shot it and it's a very nice shooting bow .

Some claim shorter bows are less accurate but some of the shorter bows I've shot were very accurate. I think there are many variables in whether a bow is accurate for a particular person. To me grip is very important. Like many will tell you shoot before you buy if possible. Best of luck

I have a 46# SuperMag and draw 28". I was surprised at how well they shot. Do your part and they work just fine. Don't know how the long draw guys would fare.

I also have a 50# 1969 super mag I just bought at COmpton in June. It shoots just fine. I am not sure where all the hate comes from with that bow. Its a shooter at my draw length of 28"

I really like short bows and there are plenty out there at 52" and shorter.  Try to find someone with the Super Mag and do some testing and bet you like this 48" bow with your draw.

Not as accurate?  That's just another of those old wive's tales that need to be put to rest.

At 27" draw you want have any problem. I have a 48 Supermag, a 50" Cascade, 52" Thunderbird, and several other shortys. But one thing that helps in shooting any short bow, is shooting 3 under.  3 under eliminates string pinch, and makes for a cleaner release with higher string angles on short bows.
And just my .02¢, but a one piece short bow shoots better than a three piece. (just my opinion)

That's where and when I got mine! Suspect I shot that one, before settling on the 46#; I darn near bought that one instead. It shot very well.

I think the "hate" comes from the twitchy nature of lighter, shorter, easier-to-move-around-unintentionally limbs.  Too short a bow highlights errors in shooting.  Its a great idea for great shots; I'll take all the help I can get.

First off accuracy is the operator. Now a short bow may be less forgiving and some say it is less accurate. I am now shooting a 50in..  Curve that is very forgiving for me. I only draw 26 in. May have something to do with it.
