So I've recently received a 1959 kodiak in the mail and although I've not shot it yet I gota say I LOVE this bow. I collect bears like many of you and this one maybe the jewel of my collection so far. Only problem is since the bow is in pretty good shape for its age I hate to hunt with it and run the risk of scarring it up. So I was wondering if the new 59er from bear feels like the same bow i.e. grip balance all that. Also been eyeballing the bows from vintage works. Do they make a bow that has the same feel? I believe the grip on this bow is my most favorite off all the bows I own or have shot so if one of the bows I've mentioned has the same or very very similar grip that would be nice to know. Thanks

The new 59 from Bear Archery is outstanding !!!
You will love it in every way

Is it pretty much the same bow? It's really important to me that the grip is as close as possible to the original 59

Its identical BUT it shoots better now if that's even possible.

The fast flight string capability really woke up an already amazing model. You will not regret it.

Looks like I may have another bear soon then. Anybody have any thoughts on the vintage works bows?

Mitch,I have a '59 Hybrid and it's excellent.I love the handle on it too.

Longtoke

What exactly do you mean by hybrid? 1960 limb style with 59 grip? I also have the 59 on the brain, I am learning toward a modern bear or a holm though.  How do they all stack up?

JimB

It looks like the '59 but I think it may have been built on the '60 form.I was told it would be "smoother" than the '59.I haven't shot a '59 so all I can tell you is,I like this one a lot.I would and probably will buy another one.

Longtoke

I always enjoy seeing that maple I beam. Awesome bow!

Chad Holm is making a recurve patterned after the 59 Bear.  I think it has static limb tips.  Very, very nice looking and shoots fantastic.

I don't think it is on his website yet, but it is definitely worth checking out.
