Just broke my new sammick one peice...

Im new to archery so I wanted to know if this is common and what I should do. Picked the bow up at the post office on July 28. It was about 49.60$ for shipping to my PO. The bow was 180. So I paid $230 for a bow to last me  11 days of shooting. I didn't even make it to 500 shots. I doubt they will refund me the 50 bucks for shipping but I hope Lancaster can refund me at least the bow cost. We will see. Thinking of getting a used bear this time around. I bought the bow because the Sage is a great bow but I like the one piece style more.
EDIT. Lancaster offered me a refund or replacement free of charge. They also allowed me to get a higher draw this time around. 40lb original, 50lb replacement. The conversation was shorter than this post. Great costumer service at Lancaster Archery.

A bow that is handled properly certainly should not have this problem. The manufacturer should have a warranty in place to take care of this, assuming you did nothing inappropriate. Good luck. I hope it works out for you.

Don't let this event dampen your enthusiasm for archery.

Call John Wert. He will take care of you. I am certain of that.

Sorry to hear about your new bow.  My son has the same bow, and loves it.

Yikes! Glad you were not hurt! Give John Wert at Lancaster a call.  He'll do you right.  Best of Luck.

Lol. It definitely startled me. I was bareshaft tuning and as I drew back, I heard a tick tick tick. I slowly undrew and checked the string( I though thats what was breaking). Then cautiously drew again slowly when suddenly It just blew up and left a small cut on my hip through my pants. I was surprised as hell. I loved the bow but now Im thinking of going with a bear instead. I tried to call but lancaster had just closed at 8-830 i believe. Ill try back tomorrow. I like phone calls over emails.

Anyone who's made any number of bows has had a failure--it happens.  They will take care of it.  The big benefit of buying new is you get a warranty.  The same thing could happen with an old Bear, but no warranty.

A.S.

Chad is right. I had a very expensive custom bow explode the same way once.

Hey B. Glad you weren't hurt too bad. Give Samick a chance to make it right and let us know how it turns out.

I have had a coule different bows break over the years. it always sucks. At least you had a new one that should be under warranty, and you were not hurt!

Good luck getting it sorted out.

It can happen to any bow. Too bad it had to be yours. Lancaster will take care of you. They are top notch.

I love my Samick one piece recurve. They are great bows. No issues so far.

It looks like that bow broke at the glue lines. To me that is a defect when it was made and should not happen. They should cover your full cost.

Glad you aren't hurt.  The bow will ( should anyway) be replaced, exasperation but it will end OK.

For all the folks... maybe consider a little bit... If you were supplying a product and it didn't work in one case, would you want to be contacted and given the opportunity to make it right or would you rather someone post it all over the world first ?  There is a system in place... maybe we should use it.

Certainly entitled to express your displeasure/disappointment, but gotta agree with Chuck.  Give the folks at least the opportunity to make it right before venting.  Let us know how it works out for you.  Certainly looks like a warranty issue to me.

He was definitely not venting.  2 things op. 1st is you definitely got one bad bow out of a thousand.  I have only been shooting for several years and only tried a few bows but I haven't had one blow up on me.  2nd, since I haven't been in the game too long, I can remember when I only had 8 posts and new to trad gang.  Unfortunately, you will have a few on here ( great place) that will take your posts and twist it worse than your Samik

AZ_Longbow

I have had big name bows blow up and custom bows break. Not Manny but enough. The real test of the maker is when they stand behind the product. Give them a chance they may do right by you.
