So, today I'm cruising the internet and find this place in Florida called Traditional Archery Sales. They have a lot of really nice older vintage bows. I see a couple I like so I call and talk to the owner, who seems like a super nice guy...and end up buying a bow. It's an old Shakespeare Ocala Special, 62'' 45lbs@28''. It should be here Saturday or Monday at the latest. And I have one on the way that Mike McCready is building for me as we speak. So I shot a trad bow for the first time in December and now I've bought 4...which is exactly how many wheel bows I owned in 25 years prior to getting the trad bug. Maybe there are meetings I could go to or something that'd help me stop....

I don't know about helping you stop, but there are lots of "meetings" where you could find plenty of enablers.  Denton Hill comes to mind.

There is no such a thing as a trad bow buying addiction. Nope. A myth!

This is my second season with trad and im already scheming about more bows. I want a nice recurve but I gotta have a longbow too. I decided to make myself earn it with the Samick Sage though. I won't buy a new bow til I kill a deer with the Sage.

Ryan, that is funny. I think we have all been there. It does take a few bows to really know if you're a recurve or a longbow guy. Then there's the grip also, you have to figure out what suits you the best. Try to use each and every bow that rolls through your place as a learning tool as to what you shoot the best.

I have been shooting trad for around 5 years now and I have owned a bunch of bows in that time. Seems nowadays all I shoot is my widow longbow. I have actually sold a few bows lately without replacing them. With all of that said, I can't say for sure if I cured but I'm in control at this time, lol.

I feel that until I need to build a larger house to hold all me new bows, I do not have an addiction, only an affinity for bows.

LOL I've actually got that figured out with the 2 I have my hands on...if it holds true for the two I have on the way I'm in trouble!!

Sam McMichael

Not to worry! Collecting and shooting traditional bows is a fun hobby. 4 bows is a decent start, but you have a long, long way to go before you have to worry about being a truly hard core trad addict. Just enjoy the ride, and let us see what you buy.
