SINCE WINTER SET IN AND I'M WEARING MORE CLOTHES I HAVE HAD A HECK OF A TIME WITH MY STRING CATCHING ON MY CLOTHES. I'M SHOOTING A 64" BOW. WHOULD A SHORTER BOW HELP WITH THIS? I'VE OPEN UP MY STANCE A LITTLE AND THIS HAS HELPED BUT IT STILL HTS SOME TIME, ITS NOT REAL COLD AROUND HEAR LIKE OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY, SO SOME OF YOU GUYS SHOULD HAVE SOME IDEAS. LET MR KNOW

I find that using a binocular harness (Cripple Creek et al) helps, or a back pack with a strernum strap.  And of course, an armguard.

Are you by chance shooting with your arm locked or maybe your bow arm shoulder is shoving forward and up, or both?

Try using rubber bands to hold the clothes back. Come down to the lowcountry, I hunted in a
t-shirt yesterday.

Don't lock your elbow !!

It was 8 degrees here yesterday morning when I stepped into the woods. I wear wool long johns, wool pants and a heavy wool shirt but over the shirt I put on my light fleece jacket I wear in the early season. It fits a little tighter so there is nothing hanging to catch the string and if it does the fleece is slick and soft so not much happens. I think most hunting clothes are designed poorly anyway for fit. Way to baggy. A good seamstress or in my case, my mother, takes in those sags and bags.

First check your brace height . Your string could have stretched.Low brace height can cause forearm slap. However, if it is in fact from too many clothes the simple fix is an arm guard.

Is the string hitting your wrist, or your arm?  

As above, check your brace height, if set too low, have a tendency to hit your wrist.

finally, are you using a bracer or arm guard?

Here is a tip ...open your standance up slightly , when standing toward the  target in shooting postion and feet are shoulder width apart , take the back right foot and comfotably move the right back foot foward when shooting a little, ( if ur righthand shooter), reverse process if Lefty ... that would mean move ur left foot foward slightly , it works!

   How you grip the Bow has something to do with Armslap also....
   Untill you learn proper grip, Buy one of my Armguards....  

Try using the Real Tree cloth arm guard.  It's available at Dick's Sporting Goods and The Sportsman's Guide for about 8 bucks.  If your technique isn't perfect and the string slaps your arm, there is no sound.
