This all started a few months ago, shortly after developing and coming out with the new Absorkee Over the Shoulder Quiver. I got an email from Dan Tolke, asking if I was planning on being at the Montana Bowuhunters Banquet.
So fast forward to the banquet, and Dan comes up and checks out the quivers, he was quite happy with the Over the Shoulder model, and ended up taking on home with him!  Later, when I had a break, I went in and looked at Dan's bows, the first mistake was letting him talk me into shooting one. Now it was my turn to be impressed!  After shooting a Pika, we talked about "if" I were to order one, what it would be. I wanted Osage for the riser, Dan said he had some Mura (sp) a Mexican Osage that was a bit heavier and aged to a real pretty brown, bamboo limbs, and 60# @26". For the most part it was left at that. Then last week another email from Dan simply stating, call me. When I got to where I had service, (one of the fringe benefits of living in Montana, phone service can be nonexistent at times), I gave him a call, Dan told me he had this sweet Pika, that was exactly as described above, and after some incoherent babbling on my part, he asked if I would be willing to trade some leather for the bow!  Needless to say I was deeply touched and said yes.
Before posting a picture of the bow, I'd just like to say that after many years of talking to Dan on the phone, his help, advice, and friendship even though I didn't own one of his bows truly sets him apart as one of the best!

Thanks!
Tim

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!

Nice.....he makes a nice bow!

You guys are so lucky. Having a skill, craft....art like yours that allows you to trade with other artists/craftsmen is such a wonderful thing!!  Congrats on a greAt looking how!!

Dan must like to trade for pretty stuff! He and I came to terms a few days ago also on a mutually beneficial trade. I am not yet a contributor to this site so I will refrain from posting pics of my end of the trade. I will definitely post pics of the whip when it arrives!
