Opening day of Iowa turkey season. I had this tom come in at 7:40. He was facing me at about 10 yards...right next to the decoy, so I focused on his wattle and the arrow was on its way. It made kind of a funny clicking noise and he ran off about 25 yards then started to stagger, tipped over, flopped a few more yards, and all was still.

It turns out the clicking noise was one blade of the Bullhead slicing his beak lengthwise...sorry I didn't think to take a picture of that. One of the other blades made this nice slice in his throat.

My cousin, FAV52, has been telling me how great these heads work. In fact he gave me the one I was using. I'm a believer now! Had I not hit the beak, he would have no doubt been decapitated, not that it mattered all that much to this guy. If I had my druthers, I'd prefer to have a different angle, but this one was no less effective I guess.

All-in-all, it was quite a fun day. Love my Bama Hunter too, by the way.

Very nice!  Congrats!

I'm getting jealous seeing these bird harvests.

I've yet to put one down with the bow, and I have to wait until this Saturday to get after them!

Thanks for sharing.
For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

You should. Anyone who's hunted turkeys very long has lost one or more birds with what looked like solid body shots. I know I have. With head/neck shots it's pretty much either a clean miss or a dead bird. Even if this bird hadn't dropped in sight, the blood trail would have led us right to him. How many times have you found much of any blood trail with a body shot?

I'm very impressed with these things! With the size of the cutting diameter, if you can hit a four or even five inch circle at ten yards, you should have no issues with these. This one was beating the crap out of our jake decoy set at 10 yards, so that's about how far I had to shoot.

At ten I think I could hit one in the head or neck with a Simmons Tigershark pretty easily as well, but I like the margin of error you get with the Bullheads. Hitting him in the beak did kind of bend one of the blades back a bit, but it's still razor sharp and I wouldn't hesitate to launch it at another bird.

Congrats on a nice bird, I messed mine up yesterday.
I went out at 12:30 and had 2 toms strutting at 15 yards behind me for 2 1/2 hours before I got a shot.
Nerves got me I guess.
