A really early spring for here, so bait will go out early.  Cleaned out the freezer yesterday and prepped my bear bait.  trying a new recipe (oats, molassas, carmel/vanilla sauce and jelli beans for main bait) lots of old bread and buns, bacon grease and meat juices from a year of collecting for secondary. Also going to give hanging beaver caster a try.  I still have two bows that have not come back from repairs so I will be doing the hunt with my 50 lbs samik sage (no aminals taken with this bow yet).

Hunting season does not start until April 15th, but I will post bait, stand setups etc.

I'm going for a big (big) bear and hopefully coloured.

here we go!!!!!

Thanks for doing this.  These are my favorite type of threads!

One of these days I would love to do a follow-along for my whitetail season here in MO, but I know how much work it is.

Good luck!

here is the first bait site that went out today, going to wait a couple weeks for the others (still lots of snow and access is wet and snowy).

Area is a large blow down area of Pine, a cut block to the west and a swamp to the east.

It would dead center of page, you can see a slight trail winding along the edge of a cutover, where it stops is the bait site.

Season only started on the 15th, did not get a chance this weekend to go check on it but our temps went over the last 2 weeks from -20ish to + 20ish.

hope to go out in next couple days and have a see.

My biggest issue now to come is what bow and is good enought to kill.

I hope to here at least one of my two go to bows are fixed and on its way back to me.

Nothing yet, barrel left along, was a wolf coming around (fresh tracks). supposed to cool off for a week with rain, so likely no action until into May
