What would cause an arrow to hit straight on target and hit where aiming but has like a tail swirl effect in flight it is Easton axis 400 full length 75 insert 125 heads bow is 54@28 drawing 28

monterey

Only time that has happened to me was shooting broadheads out of a bow with both nock height and strike plate way off.

Its hard to say exactly what is going on.  Something is out of tune,  arrows may be stiff or weak, Nocking point to low, Bad release.

Go to the shooters forum, ask the same question but give the bow and arrow specs as well as your draw length.

Is it just one certain arrow or different arrows?

Something is out of tune. The only way to tell for sure is to do some type of tuning, like bare shaft or paper tuning. There is no way you will get a definitive answer to that question over the internet.

You need to strip the feather off of one arrow and do some bare shaft tuning. That will identify the problem. Sounds like too stiff and nock point too low to me.

I had the same problem. Took advise from Bisch and went back to he paper tuning board and found several problems. Fixed all that and after that if anything changes in arrow flight I look to see what has changed in my form.

Thanks for all the advice I'm going to bare shaft tonight and see how that goes and might bump to a 145 tip I'll post results tonight.

Again, could be a few things, probably a combination. Brace height, nock height, string hand/release (plucking or torqueing). And these are assuming your arrows are spined right.

I'll add one more possibility to the list; you might try shooting cock feather in, as feather contact can also contribute.

KOOK68

possibly the nock is fitting too tight on the string?

Zradix

paper tune it.
Don't have to strip the fletch..and it works.

Well thanks again for the advice that's what makes this sight such a pleasure to be a part of. I tried bare shaft and obviously I am not advanced enough to make much out of that. I did adjust my knock height and added 145 tip and it improved it may even be perfect and my mind playing tricks none the less it's good enough for me. Going to go to the ky trad fest if not raining and see how it shoots their.
