From a new spool, I pull out about 200 fee of string so that there is no drag as it leaves leaves the spool.  I follow Jerry's method.

If you get caught out in the rain and the spool gets wet throw it away as it's no good.  I learned that the hard way last week.

Kip,

I also use Jerry's Method.  You'll quickly understand why.  At first the line comes out and feels a little rough, not hard or anything like that, but definitely not as smooth as it will after you pull out a couple hundred feet.

A real easy way to do it is put it on your arrow and shoot a little lob shot, then check to see how smooth is comes out.  Be sure to pick up your line afterwards!  :)

I have 3 at my house.  I also had a video of me shooting mine, but it must be on my work pc.  I'll try to put it up tomorrow.

The String Tracker is an absolute awesome tool in my arsenal!!!

See the string going thru the bh hole in the netting?

I won't go turkey hunting without my String Tracker!
