Hey guys I just got back from a business trip to Orlando Florida and coming through the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama I noticed exceptional amount of deer activity. I almost hit two real nice bucks and the deer appeared to be in rut...I would say they looked just like Midwestern whitetail do here in mid-November and body language and activity.

Am I crazy or is this really rut activity?

Yep, when tiny fawns are seen in January it lets us know just how late breeding activity can go. Even after our season goes out.

Michael, three weeks ago I watched a really nice buck chasing a doe around a field here in Tahlequah.

Here in south Alabama the rut runs well into February.

thankfully, Alabama is finally coming around to that fact. they extended the season to February 10th this year in the south half, and are going (almost) statewide with it next year.

next-door neighbor Florida goes all the way through February in this zone (panhandle).

I've seen some late chasing here in Oklahoma as well but this was full fledged peak of the rut type activity and not so much chasing. I'm glad to see the seasons are concurrent for you southern hunters
