I've just bought a used Martin Hatfield TD recurve. It was bought new at about 2001. It's 45# 62"AMO
My draw length is 29.5.
What is the string length? I heard somewhere that Martin recommends 5" less than bow length vs. the standard 4"
What type of string is the best, can I use fastflight on this bow?
Whats  the best aluminum arrow, I'm thinking 2016 or 2018.
Are replacement limbs still available for this bow?
thanks to all

Anyone with a Martin Hatfield TD?

Apex Predator

Just buy a 62" AMO string for it.  The 2016s should be the cats meow out of that one.  It should be ok for FF, but I would PM howattman to me sure.  He is the non-Martin affiliated expert.

confused about the string. Wouldn't 62"AMO string always measure 58" end to end?
I'm not sure but I believe I read somewhere that Martin Recurves use 3" shorter strings which would be 59" end to end.

Thanks for the posting here. I actually have the same stats on a Kodiak Hunter.(45#@28, 29.5 draw) I shoot 2117's cut to 32", and I need 175 up front to tune them. I've been thinking that 2016, or 2018 would be the ticket. I think 2018's would give a little mor options as far as arrow length and broadhead weight.

Oh, you could always call Martin and get the recommended string length. I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you, and recommend arrows.

Thanks everyone!

Hey! Who put wheels on this?

oops sorry

my x-200 has factory string 3" shorter than amo. factory string was labelled by amo not actual length
hope that helps

I just went and measured the string on my Hatfield. It was about 57". I made the string myself with a string jig I bought that is set for AMO lengths.  I used the 62" peg and that's what I got. Hope that helps you.

My string is 58 in.  What type of limb attachment does yours use?  fixed pin or ball bearing? I have two but are not interchangable.

I should be getting the bow next week. I believe the bow was first purchased in 2001 or 2002, which would make the limbs the pin type.
Seems like were getting different string measurements. I don't know for certain but I believe Martin calls for string 3" less than the AMO length.
Everybody has nothing but praise for the Hatfield. I can't wait!

Kingstaken

My Hatfield uses 62" AMO or 58".
