For starters I have been wanting to get a dog that I could train to blood trail for several years now but could never figure out what breed that I wanted to get that would accomplish my needs in the hunting department as well as being a family pet.

Beagles kept on popping up as a possible breed that would fit the bill and my wife and I decided that a Beagle it would be

Now the search was on to find a credible breeder and after inquiring on here I had "Centaur" contact me about a breeder that he got their Beagle form...  ( Thanks Centaur!!!! )
He said that their Beagle was a fast starter and  is the best dog that they have ever had, that's all I needed to hear   :goldtooth:

Well, Yesterday a friend and I made the 6 hour trip to Southern MO, to pick up this little lady, "Miss Bianca" AKA "B" for short......

We wont need to clean the floor after supper anymore!

The kids had no idea that we were getting a puppy so to say that they were ecstatic when I walked in the door with her would be an understatement   :biglaugh:

Now the training begins.....

She's a cutie, for sure. I'll bet she can sniff up a rabbit, too. Congrats!
Here's Huey back when he was a pup.

And what he has turned into. Beagles are great dogs.

Careful using a beagle to blood trail deer and not run them while rabbit hunting. It is usually one or the other.  Both these beagle look like great dogs.  I have 2 and they make some great family pets.

P.S. Nice banjo in the back ground.
I have a gold tone that should get more attention.  I love that sound nothing like it!

Boy that sure is a fine looking pup, congrats. Looks like your kids love her. I have been wanting a tracking dog myself. Good luck with the training.

If I were to ever get another dog, which probably won't happen, it would be a beagle. Great pets.

That's a great looking pup. Take it everywhere, use a leash a lot, and give it tons of affection and she will become a great dog. Above all, be patient and kind in training so she doesn't get confused. about five to ten minutes of training at a time several times a day is best. Keep things fun and she will always want to work with you and learn new things.

we started with one.

My wife then decided Missy was lonely, so we got Emma.  I will say, there is nothing cuter than a Beagle pup and when our son came along it only got better.  He loves his pups and they adore him!

Beagles are great dogs.  Loving, fairly easy to train aside from being damn stubborn.  Completely food driven, use it to your advantage.  They are SMART!  Missy learned to open the fridge, stole a half loaf of banana bread and a Tupperware of Chorizo and yam soup before we realized what she was up to.  Not only did she open the fridge, she opened the Tupperware, ate the soup and hid the lid and container under the couch.  Had to put a child lock on our fridge 5 years before our son was even born!

Beagles are great little dogs. Do they have any tendency to leave a blood trail when they run across a live deer? I had an Irish Setter once that loved to hunt birds, that is, unless he came across a deer. Then it was off to the races.

All these Beagle pictures are great. It just seems that they belong in pictures with kids.

Congrats on a great choice. My little female we call Moose. Here she is as a pup.

A cute pup for sure.  I have run blood dogs for over 30 years and had a legendary blood tracking beagle back in the 80s.  They are also wonderful family dogs.

We have had beagle my whole life. All would run rabbits great. We only had one that would after any deer trail he ran across. He would end up taking the others with him. But the rest never cared about trailing deer on their own. They are some,of he breeds for pets and especially great with kids. As a matter of fact I don't believe I have ever seen a mean beagle.
