I love Yew Pat and that ebony riser will look awesome with it. I already had a yew/cocobolo so I ordered light stained American Elm with a darker myrtle riser. Steve said if he had some myrtle with some good character he would use it. If not the riser will be wenge. 50#'s 67" long Congrats on your Shelton order.

I bet the elm will be awesome.

WESTBROOK

Thanks Guys, I'm really pleased with it. I waited a year and a half for this one. Steve called me a couple times when my name would come up and I put it off for different reasons, mostly because I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted.

I have another NM bow that I converted to a dished grip and wanted to get that just right and had Steve build it to that dimension. It came out perfect!

I'm sold on the Elm limbs, just like the way they feel as opposed to Bamboo. I have an Elm Shelton and a Bamboo Classic and they are different feeling bows but I didn't know if it was the material or the bow design, so I went with Elm and I'm glad for it. It just has a crisper feel than Bamboo to me.

So I finally got it and I'm tickled with it!   :D

I'll try to throw up a few pictures as the bow progresses.

Right now I've tapered the butts of the laminations and glued them together.

Since I have the time, I put the bow together in several steps. Probably not needed, but that's the way I'm doing it these days.

I'll put stuff in the form tomorrow.

The second dozen shafts have been stained and now dipped with their first coat of clear.

Straighten.... hardly needed with Surewood fir.

Mark nock end for diameter before grinding long taper.

Put rear taper on shaft with belt sander and homemade jig.

Mark shafts for length of cap dip and stained area.

I was wondering how many of you hunt with a back pack? and use some sort of hip, side,or back quiver, I'm really interested in one of Mr Catt's side kick quiver with the fletching hood, those who hunt or use the side kick that might have a tip or two,and how they work for them.
     Thanks

Shinken

Antler Chaser - I hunt with a backpack and I have used two different systems to transport my arras.  Jack Bowers Chief side quiver was excellent when I shot RH.  Now I am shooting LH and I prefer the ST ARROWMASTER.

My son prefers the quiver caddy by Mark Baker in combination with a Kwikee Kwiver.

They are all good!

I will look into those quivers.

re Green:  I like it!  rem that Great Northern sold a LOT of "retro" green bows, so I'm not the only one who appreciates Green.

Charlie nice work, you are giving me the itch to get back at building another bow.  I have been thinking about it and like your approach, gluing the the upper and bottom lam's together, seem's like it would make it "easier" to line up all at once in form.

Eric,
I sure like the looks of your "Green Classic"! It looks similar to my TD Shelton.

I had Steve rework the original "straight grip" to a smaller dished grip. I'm pleased with it and it fits my hand much better. Steve does a great job!
