very nice looker...congrats.

It's good to see some new 'faces' postjng on this thread.  Maybe the masses are being reached and as a result many are finding the simplistic joy of shooting an american semilongbow.

I can't help feeling that there are those out there who longed to indulge in the simple joy of throwing on a backquiver and taking a longbow out for a good time but were hesitant to try because of what they had heard about this style of weapon and it's shooting style.  Hopefully because of the discussions posted here those hesitant ones are now experiencing this joy in the hill mystique and technique.

Does anyone know where a copy of the book "hitting them like Howard Hill", by John Schulz would be?

Hum, well, I have a collection of Longbow Digest coming, so I bet we might could do a trade to read, then swap back.

Hitting 'Em Like Howard Hill is a pretty tough book to come by.  I scored a copy a few months ago off a used book site and one just went off on the big auction site a few days ago.

Great little book.  A must for the Hill enthusiast's library.

Guys,

Gonna try to post some pics of my new bow, hopefully it works (my first attempt at this). Craig got this bow to me arriving the day after my birthday and it is EXACTLY what I wanted! I couldn't be happier with it.

66 inch Half Breed - 52@28 with visible fadeout snakewood riser, silver elk inlay and laced elk hide grip. I had Craig cut it to 1/16th from center to make the bow a tad more forgiving of spin issues. As a nice touch Craig elected to use carmelized bamboo in the lambs as the color matched nicely with the yew on the back and belly. This will be my 'go-to' bow for the 2012 season so I'm looking forward to lots of practice on bunnies and targets for the next 9 months.

It's pictured with my 45@28 68 inch Wesley Special which is also a really nice shooter.

Ross-

After the picture is resized, click the option that says "Make a Copy", then go back to your album and copy the "icg" code and paste it on your Tradgang message.

Go to the pic in photobucket and hover the cursor over it.  Click on the Direct Link button to copy the URL.  Then in the Post A Reply page click the IMAGE button, then right click and past the URL.  Done.

That thing deserves an African safari     .  It looks like it just stepped off the "Dark Continent" with those spots.  Very, VERY, cool.

So that's yew on the belly, huh.  Pretty light, but it should age nicely.  Give it a few years.  A whole year in the field won't hurt either.  It does look like dark bamboo.

Craig builds some really beautiful bows.  This one is right up there.  Love the visible riser fadeouts.  Enjoy it to the fullest.
