They say when they get bows back their scales usually show right on...it may be a calibration issue. They wouldn't be doing that intentionally I wouldn't think. I think I had one that was a bit light, but the rest are real close. I sure hope mt T/D is right on. I really don't want it to be heavier.

I've checked my weights with my bow scale and they've been on point. One thing that I've noticed is that they draw very smooth.

Mine have been very close when I checked them with certified scale weights, and they read heavy when I checked them with an old spring scale.

Look what came today....

HH Crocodile  69" 52 @ 28 Cocobolo handle and overlays. On my scale it's 55# @ 28. I love it.

That crocodile is sweet looking, enjoy! I saw the first payment debited to me for my snakewood Half Breed build today - anticipation is building!

i had checked the last 5 hills i had on an easton digital scale and all were 3-6# heavier than marked.  my current miller old tom was within 1# of the labelled weight.  i just know to order 4-5# heavier for a hill.

however, if the hill bow length is right for my draw length, a few to four pounds more isn't so bad because the draw will still be smooth.  but woe unto me if i screw up and get a hill shorter than 68" for my 29" draw length!  at 29" draw, 70" is just right.  ymmv.

Yea Chris, it's all osage. I am a terrible photographer, the pictures don't do it justice. Beautiful wood, real nice grain in the cocobolo and osage. I am very pleased with how it came out. Craig does great work. Rob, after reading some earlier posts, and you said the HH bows were usually heavy, I ordered 52# shooting for 55 or 56. My scale shows 55, perfect. I only got to shoot it a few times before dark today, it shoots as good as it looks. I have a sample pack of surewood shafts, now I have to see what it likes and order more shafts and get to work building arrows. The fun is starting now.

EastTexasRedneck

Thanks Ben. I'm going to South Texas close to where I grew up in January for a late season doe hunt. Hope to bloody it up a bit down south.

Nice Croc ETR.  That Osage has some really nice character in the grain.  I have yet to shoot an Osage Hill, but the Croc is on my list.  Good luck and shoot the hell out of it.

You know what's scary?  Going away for a month and facing the prospect of trying to catch up....

At least it's alive and well as it approaches the 1yr anniversary.

ET Redneck, great choice in wood. Just wait a couple of years when it turns that honey brown color. Real nice. As far as the issue with the weight I have a Tembo that came in at within a 1/2# of what I requested, and same story with several friends who own them. All have been within 1-2# of their requested weight, this is standard procedure of most bowyers +/- 2#. Thats 8 bows so I don't put much salt in some of the other comments.

2 hours for 27 pages.  And I still need to read that Scott Toll article.

You know how hard it's going to be to not cruise the classifieds now?  Wife handed in her resignation yesterday, kids need presents, the two Hills already at home need some serious attention, but y'all still have me daydreaming with your new acquisitions....
