I was wondering the same thing about the Schulz boys.

I am sure that Nate Steen (Sunset Hill) will be along soon to answer the questions about the Schulz Boys. He is personal friends with them.

Red tail hawk you must be a tall guy. I'm 6'4 I draw a little over 29 with pistol grip bows but my draw with hill styles consistantly between 27 to 27 1/2 inches.

RT hawk, you sound like you are right about where you should be with your draw. Solid 28" is a good thing to have.

Mike i watched some of the video before dark.  It was great will be out at daylight giving it a go.  It was some great stuff that really helped explain some stuff i have read but had visualized wrong a bit.

This thread is getting around. A local compunder heard through the gossip vine (dutch bingo), that I have not been shooting lately, (disc rupture and dislocated lower ribs), and came over to offer me a super deal. A rare collectable Bear Whitetail Hunter with a bow quiver, in exchange for his pick of one of my longbows and a back quiver, but he had to shoot them all before he would make his choice. He said that he was doing this because he was concerned for my well being. he was disappointed that I did not have a string follow with the burnished bamboo.  where did he get that info? Right here. Seems he has been reading this thread. And by the way, son, if you are reading this, there is no way I am going to let you shoot your wheelie bow on my yard. I am getting better and I will be able to hunt this year.

I measured the unstrung length of my Big Five tonight and it's 71.75" tip to tip. Has anyone seen a bow case for this length? Looks like I might be giving myself a lesson in building bow cases next...

The 650 grain arrows were hitting hard and quiet today, but not stabilizing until they hit about the 15 yard mark though. Not sure if I'll hunt the 2117's with 125 grain Magnus, or the 2317's with 175 grain Zwickey's on opening day. One week to decide but they are both flying good!

After season I'll revisit the idea of switching to wood. Will have four months off to practice and tune before my return to Hog Heaven.

Nate has been busy the last couple of days     :scared:

Kelly, this one is for you!  Got you excited yet? Found three pretty good piles around the mountain.

I took no deer or bear but had a great time with a great friend.   :campfire:    We spent Friday and Saturday hunting.  Nate will have to relate his close encounters of wapiti kind to you.  It will be back to desert country for muleys this week.  Our current deer season in this region ends on Friday the 30th.  Perhaps a Northern Idaho whitetail hunt will happen next month and then we have other muley hunts into December.  All in all, it a blessing to be able to get out there.

I'll go over for the both of us ... teach Nate a thing or two about archery , drink some campfire coffee with you lads and bust some arrows stumping .

Speaking of which ... has anyone heard from Mr Hinton ? Surely he owes us a tale or two ... or maybe that is a wolfs tail or two ? .....

Put the sneak on a small herd of bedded does this morning, looking for a drooling buck. Wearing nothing but brown cotton trousers, a med green short sleeve polo shirt, and covered head to toe in Deep Woods Off, bug spray. When I closed to 40yds of the site of their bed I noticed an older horse sized doe, standing broadside, looking the other direction. I froze, no shot, too brushy. 5minutes later she waked to my left and into some bushy garbage at about 30yds. Looking over in my direction she put her head down and tried to make me out. Approx 1.5min. later, and not liking my presence, she trotted off. At that point I leered into the area from where she was and noticed 2 more standing at about 40+yds. looking at me as I was inching around the area looking for some Antler. Again about 1min. later those to run off.
 No Camo? check.

When Rik disappears into the mountains chasing the monarch of the mountains he rarely reappears early. If he has two weeks(like he has now) don't expect to hear from him earlier. That said, his 2 weeks might be up today.

Well. I hated to take the St. Judes bow out in the rain so I strung up a fine Hill bow and set out to sit in a blind. I sat an ameristep blind up for my wife mostly and so I could take my Grandson. Last year I put it under a huge water oak that was pouring acorns and killed a squirrel with the hill bow inside with my Grandson in the blind with me. It had him pumped up.gonna get him one of the "cricket" 22 rifles for Christmas Lord willing. He turned 5 this year.
Back to the tale. the Water oak is feeding now and I drew on 3 different Turkeys under 10 yards. BooHoo...no fall season here.
Anyway just before the bottom fell out a big doe and two yearlings came by.A yearling was maybe 3 feet from the blind and the big doe was about 15 yards. I made a good shot and within minutes it started flooding. No problem because I heard her go down. Not a good pic because all my stuff was getting wet. Gonna hunt with the St. Judes bow one more evening then I`ll mail it to the next guy . Then I`m gonna hunt with a the Hill a bit then the Mohawk and maybe an old Bob Lee. So many bows to feed and so little time.RC
