What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

dragonheart, The feral goats are a real pest out here and the billies can grow some big horns over 40". If you ever find yourself down this way I'm sure we can arrange to take you out for a hunt after them.

smoke1953, In the first three photos my 'Big Five' had brown glass. The photos with my bows in them the limbs are covered. My wife makes my bow socks out of T shirt material and they stretch onto the limbs real tight. I use them mainly just to protect the limbs a bit from dings while out bush as well as hide the blonde colour of the clear glass over bamboo.

Ron, that is a nice collection of Hill bows!!!

Ron, Like the bow of course that was the year I was born so might be partial. My eyes aren't fooling me are they that's a righty bow.

I believe those 'Commemorative' bows were built by John Schulz...there are old articles by Sam Fadala referencing them in old Bow & Arrow magazine articles I believe...

Not to change the subject again, but I have some cool news, to me at least.  I came home from work today and decided to take my HH Sirocco out in the rain for a little target time.  Well I scored my first Robin Hood and I'm pumped.  The two arrows look like they are fused together.  I'll try to get a few pics at some point.  The arrows are going up on the wall for sure.

Amazing! From an innocent one sentence post back in Jan. springs perhaps the largest batch of Hill style longbow info assembled in recent history. Keep it coming!

Thanks mates!  Good to see you Aussie boys around here.  I visited your fine country a few years back and loved it.  Two weeks tooling around Queensland from Cairns to Cooktown and everywhere in between.  But I didn't have my bow with me.  I would love to get back there someday. It's a fascinating continent.

Dude ... you went form Cairms to Cooktown and didn't bring a bow,  in some of the best pig hunting country in the world  ? You better get back here then eh !

When I was there I was more concerned with watching all the cool wildlife your place has to offer, rather than killing it    :biglaugh:

I'm a big birdwatcher, and and the land down unda has some amazing species.  I do need to get back.  Ok enough bird nerd talk.  Back to Hill bows.  Sorry for the quick highjack.

Well, I had to join the club. Found a  Wesley Special on **** 68" 41#@27 with a bocote riser and it doesn't look like its got more than 400 arrows through it.  It was made in 2008.  I put in my maximum bid a week ago and didn't look at it again because I know how those things can go sometimes.  I won it yesterday with $1 left in my bid!   So if any of you were bidding on it you missed your chance by $1.01 Hah!  Victory!  OK not nice to gloat I know.

I'm just hoping the 68" bow will be ok for my 30" draw.    Can't wait.
