I'm looking at picking up a Hoots custom recurve as part of a trade locally.  Can anybody tell me anything about them?  I tried looking them up, but the website isn't up anymore and their other social media pages I found haven't been active since 2014.  The bow looks great but I haven't shot it yet.  It's 56" and 42@28".  Any opinions based on your personal experiences, as well as information on the bowyer would be appreciated.

Great bows, if the specs work for you its certainly worth giving a shot.

It's for my wife, so the specs should work fine.  I have a 42# Ben Pearson Hunter that she can shoot, but she doesn't like the fat palm swell on the grip.  She likes the slimmer grip on my longbow and a couple of smaller gripped Bear recurves she's tried, but what I have, other than my kids' bow, is too heavy for her.  The grip on this one looks fairly slim, so I think it'll work.  If not, I only draw 27.5-28", so I should be able to use it as well.

Keefer here is a big fan and if you search the TG archives I think you'll find plenty of input... He quit making but a few a year the story went recently on here...but those who were fans were solid fans...
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

I shot some at Denton Hill and thought that they were tremendous shooters. Came close to buying one. I would say that their performance is very reminiscent in performance to Griffins which says a lot coming from a Griffin fanboy.

I've owned two. They were both great shooters. They're a nice feel in the hand and a smooth draw. VERY quiet, and pretty fast if you're into speed

Matt,
that should be a smooth bow at 56" which is the longest he made in the Little Hoots recurve.
They are somewhat a forward handle bow and the draw at that weight should be very smooth.
If you have any serial numbers I can text Lee for you to see when it was made and possibly what woods were used and who he made it for.
That bow is a great ground blind or tree stand bow .
As far as Lee go's he is likable   :goldtooth:

They are excellent with fine build quality.  Shoot quick and snappy.  Tolerate a long draw smoothly.  There isn't anything to dislike if you're looking for a nice shorty.

Thanks guys.  Sounds like a good find.  Keefer, I'm building a knife to trade for it so it'll be a while before I actually pick it up, but the serial # is in one of the pictures he sent me I think.  It also has the name of the lady he made it for on the bow.  I'm not terribly worried about when it was made, but I may go ahead and pm the info to you when I have a chance just for kicks.

Excellent bows! I've shot severa deer with the couple I've had. Fast and quiet. I loved the smaller grip.

I have a 54", 52# Little Hoots I would sell if anyone is looking. Great bow, just sticking to longbows.
