I normally use douglas fir with my N.M. classic which can be described as a Hill style longbow but am thinking about trying some Easton Legacy shafts. If you shoot aluminum from your Hill bow, please respond.

Hermon

I do from time to time.  Nothing wrong with it, and they shoot great.

I did most of the time. I shot 2018 and 2020 from my 65# Pete George LB. Unless you leave the shafts real long you will need to spine down because bow shelf is cut this side of center. Arrow needs more bend to get around the riser. These are my experiences yours may vary. I would suggest a test pack of shafts from 3Rivers and test point pac as well.

I shoot a 2016 with a 145 gr. point out of my 55# Hill. The spine just fits my bow,I have shot carbons and woods too out of my Hill.I like the looks and they way they fly,and they are some old Autumn Orange arrows.Shot 2020's out of a 65# Hill I had.

I mostly shoot aluminum's off my ASL's.

I, too, shoot mostly aluminums from my hill style bows. Most of my bows pull 50-55 pounds and I use 2016s, 2114s and sometimes 2018s with a little more weight up front.

Vesty

How about noise? I'm a quiet freak. I know how silent wood arrows are. Would I be right in assuming that the key with aluminum would be weight? Heavy=quiet?

Tajue17

aluminum's are fine just noisy in a back quiver and be careful when nocking an arrow (or accidentally rolling string when drawing back) and making sure it doesn't hit the riser,,,some of my hunting bows have that stick on camo plate material all the way up the side of the riser to avoid any of those mishaps.

I use 2016 Legacy's cut to 29" bop w/125 up front.
  Bow is a Big 5 49# @ 29"
And I use the Easton black 500's cut to 29" bop w/125 up front.
With my Tembo no shelf, 45# @ 29"
To help with the noise, Keep the points tight.

I've had success shooting 2018's out of a 64" Robertson Purist Longbow. Had to put Velcro or mole skin across the entire sight window to reduce the noise while hunting.

I've used 2114's from a 51@28" Wesley Special I once had.

I shoot a 54# NM Baraga and use 2213 145grain field point/broadhead. 29" with 3 4" parabalic feathers. Total weight is around 500grains. It's my go to arrow for my Baraga.

I've shot 2016, 2018, 2117, from different Hill  bows since 1988.
