I did not touch my bow for almost 2 months. I decided to shoot yesterday for about 30 minutes. I shot very well to my surprise. It felt really good to shoot. I just picked it up and began flinging the arrows and they were zipping right where I was looking.

Had to do it a few years back to build a house. Sure was nice to get back at it. I had little time to even check into T/G.    :banghead:

I had the same result a few weeks ago. Between being married with 2 kids (youngest is almost 2 yrs) and the work load from school, I didn't shoot for about 3 months. I didn't even get my hunting gear out at all. Between semesters I was able to shoot almost everyday and it went great. I will be putting the bow away again tonight until the end of April to finish school. After than, deer beware.

Was wondering where you went. You were posting quite often there for a while. I found that if I took a brief hiatus from golf that when I came back, I just stepped up to the ball and hit it. No thought process. Just let muscle memory take over and I played pretty darn well. But then, I started to think about my swing and it went to hell in a handbag pretty darn quick. Paralysis through analysis. Same with shooting a stick bow. Just let it happen. And welcome back.

Well I have been gun hunting a bunch my 10 year old son. He was able to kill his first deer, so it was worth every minute of it. But I will be doing some 3d shoots this winter so I will be checking in.

Nice to see you around, Landon! Once you are bitten by the bug, it is hard to give up!

Good luck to you on your adventure!

Thanks Bisch. You know I realized a lot this season. There is room for me to hunt and enjoy it with many different weapons. I can hunt trad, compound, and even shotgun all in the same season and enjoy them all. I tried to put myself in a box and be one type of hunter. The funny thing is, it was my 10 year old son and his first kill with a shotgun and deer hounds that opened my eyes to this. The beauty of living in VA is that we have several hunting styles and traditions, the use of deer dogs being one of them, and being on the stand with my son as those hounds brought that buck to us and he made a great shot with that little 410 was priceless. In the end, Im just a hunter period.

Glad to see you back.  I enjoy reading about your journey.

I learned that my wife is pregnant with our first right before deer season.  For the first time ever my attention wasn't solely fixed on deer hunting from October to the new year.  I shot a lot and hunted a good deal, but my obsession was abated for a while with thoughts of fatherhood.  This is a lifestyle that we live, but it's hardly the only thing in life.

Shoot straight, Landon.
