Is there a way to increase the draw weight on a 3 pc recurve? The bowyer is no longer making bows so you can't buy new limbs.
Thought I heard one time that a shim between the limbs and riser would do it, but how thick?

Have you tried adjusting your stance to gain extra draw length?  Doing this will, in turn, increase your draw weight.

I would not recommend shimming a take down bow limb at all.....

The only way you can increase the draw weight on the existing limbs is cut the limbs down an inch on each end and put new tip overlays on..... This isn't a procedure i would recommend unless you have experence with bow building. you can get as much as 4-5 pounds...... BUT....

The problem with doing this is that it changes the whole geometry of the limb design in a recurve, and may shorten the stacking point.....

last option is find a bowyer who will build new limbs for it...

Thanks guys. Was only thinking of a couple pounds anyway, so it is not a big deal in the end.

You can also go to a shorter riser length.

Sounds like a perfect reason to get a new bow.
