I guess this would go for any Flemish. IS there a limit to the numbers of turns to shorten a string. I have one I had to put about 30 twists in to get to  the right brace.  Bill

If a string wants to curl on itself when it's off the bow then it probably has too many twists in it.

Now that you have found the brace height, measure the string and build or have another one built.

I think it would also depend on "30 twists from where?" and the length of the string. I've received a few that were really twisted as tight as I would want them and if I had to twist it any more, I'd order a new, shorter string. Others have been nearly completely untwisted except for the "splice" twists at the ends. 30 does sound a bit excessive, though.

It would be a good question for Pierre.  I don't know how much is too much.  I have not had that problem, yet.  Although I did have one string that stretched a bunch, and had to twist after rechecking  2-3 times.

Bill,

30 twists is a bit much to twist to get to brace. PM sent.

Hey Guys, to clear this up. I put that number of twists in the string to try it on another bow. The string was actually about 3/4 inch too long. I have used these strings for years and they are great with little to NO creep. Bill

I've seen a recurve bow get limb twist from a string that had too Much twist.
Agree if it tries ti turn back on itself, you probably need a shorter string.

Never question a man's choice in bows or the quality of an animal he kills.  He is the only one who has to be satisfied with either of those choices.

I read somewhere that 4 or 5 twists per inch was about the limit. That was for Dacron B-50, but I would think other materials would be about the same. Contact your string maker.
