War has been declared. What do you guys do ? Same weight blunt or judo as your field tips and flu-flus? Thanks guys

I like to use Ace Hex Heads the same weight as my broadheads... Flu flus are a great idea if you shoot "up" at tree rats.......

I have not had good luck with blunts. Too many get away. I would use old broadheads.

Shot one with my new bushbow using a ace hex. Same weight as my broadheads. Didn't go anywhere..

Another vote for hex blunts. Shot a couple using them durning the elk season and one a lucky head shot pass thru, they dont go far with a head shot, or any hit with the hex.

I have had the best luck with the G5 Small Game Broadhead or any other broadhead for that matter on squirrels. The G5 does a number on them and tends to grab onto grass/weeds about like a judo point, so not so much searching for arrows should you somehow miss the squirrel. :rolleyes: They also don't stick so far into a tree as regular broadheads do.

Squirrels are tough little buggers. I've seen them run off after pretty solid hits with judos and blunts...sometimes taking the arrow with them. Rabbits...no problem. Squirrels are another story.

I've used blunts, small game "hex" types and old BHs and prefer old BHs. When using blunts I usually have to dispatch the squirrel with a BH tipped arrow or the heel of my boot. I prefer not to have to do that.

Another vote for BHs here. Like Bisch's and others experience, mine has been that too many escape up a tree or into a brush pile with anything other than BHs. Matter of fact, just made up a pot full of Brunswick stew with about 10 of them - yum!

I once put a 3 blade BH center mass through a Squirrel, he was'nt even twitching when I took it out, he than ran about 10 yards towards the base of a tree guts flying behind him, no big deal I thought, I'll just walk over and get him. Well he went into a hole at the base of the tree, I tried everything to retrieve him for about an half hour, he was dead for sure and did'nt know it,I'm sure he died in that tree. I think there the toughest critters on earth.

Field points work just fine

Though a Zwic delta, Stos or Ace with the edges filed dull works pretty darn good too. Id say choose practically ANY point, just opt for regular fletch though instead of flu flus. Them tree rats hear them commin'!

I always enjoy these squirrel hunting posts. Squirrel hunting is just a blast and I wish more people would try it. I feel like a squirrel point should resist sticking in tree limbs but still stay in the squirrel to keep them from getting away. A glue on field point although not perfect, seems to work the best for me. I have to add a picture of my best friend Molly from a good hunt last year.

I use hex blunts, some old broadheads (some various modifications), and I'm really liking "The Forge Converta Blunt." The Converta Blunt are great as they give you the sharp point of a field tip with the stopping power of the blunt.

I carry 1, and only 1 flu flu but rarely shoot it at a squirrel. They are simply too loud - the squirrels in my area are wound tight. No way you'd hit one with a flu flu sounding like a fighter jet coming at them.

Squirrel hunting is an absolute blast with a bow in hand!!!!

I have gotten both fox an gray's but have better luck with fox squirrels. They have less of a tendency to dodge your arrow matrix style before it ever gets there!
