I am tardy in posting as I have been busy looking for a giant here in IL. Sad to say he is gone and not by my hands...however I got something to crow about.

Big Jim has a contest every year where he gives away a bow in a drawing for his customers. This summer I bought some arrows and other gear as part of his normal good deals. Shockingly I received a phone call from him while I was on vacation with my family telling me I had won! Hold on kids I gotta pull over...no I don't have to go again, I got to fist pump and yell some and this Atlanta traffic is going to think I've lost it. Well, it was better than driving to the beach knowing I had a new Thunderchild rattling around in the Big Mans idea box!

I didn't know what woods, but I knew what length. I had a TC 58" I sold once because it was too heavy. This time 50# at 30, 58". I just let the bow wizard figure it out. I mean have you seen Jim? Do you think that a fella that is a cross between Hagrid the Gamekeeper and Paul Bunyon couldn't pick woods? So I just said build it any which way boss. You have a better eye than my plain Jane noodle can figure.

So Lo and behold after my Mtn Goat hunt I get home and start dreaming of a November dandy with my Thunderchild. Jim true to his word delivered a masterpiece. I had Monty Browning here to hunt and he put some arrows thru her. He of the Hill family of bows was impressed. I decided to put away my other longbow and stone kit to hunt with my TC, a horn tipped ebony beauty. It begged for a big whitey, and I nearly got it done on a Booner with my idol here to track. Long story short he slipped my ambush and is no longer on his feet thanks to the punkin army. 'Twas not meant to be, they were to never meet. No happy ending.

*Purty ain't she?

*See...it's mine!

However the same sit a coyote made the mistake of liking a lip squeak. He pranced into my ambush of clover and pinch. He didn't quite make the red zone but I shot a little daylight. I watched the arrow sail perfect. The tuffhead tore a hole in that critters chest 2 inches wide. My ebony beauty and I agreed that it had killed no more turkey polts or whitetail fawns. I left a little sage there where I found him and thanked the Lord above for the pelt, for ebony two-tone beauties, and Big Bow Making Wizards! Thank you Jim...I am a customer for life (already was) and now I need a 2 piece for a little hunt for moose. This time I'm buying    :)

Great story!!
Big Jim is a great guy. He was very patient with my then 4 year olds ramblings and multitude of questions regarding if he was actually Santa clause or not lol.
Also my son, on Sunday after the Shoot and big Jim trying to pack up really wanted a squirrel target, he proceeded to entertain the little guy and gave him the target to bring home

Max is 6 now and still talks about it!!!

That a beauty, Mike! Sorry about the booner, but congrats on the yote. I want to go moose hunting one of these days too!

Bisch after my goat hunt I couldn't book one fast enough...I was able to book and ask forgiveness from Mrs. D. It is not until 2017 so it will be a lot of bologna sandwich lunches and selling of gear that I just hate to part with.

I used a 3 piece longbow for goats. I tell ya that 2 piece design that Big Jim uses would be quite handy. No worries of dropping a bolt off a 500 foot cliff. Just push together, string and go. Most times I had to hike/climb with my bow broken down to free my hands.

This moose hunt will have a goat story too  :)  I gotta do that again. The best/worst hunt of my life  :)

Most excellent all the way around! No string silencers? She must be hush-hush.

Tom they are there...small pieces of fleece I "borrowed" from a worn out bow sock. It is quiet though! 600 grain arrow is fairly flat too!

Congratulations on winning the bow and  connecting on the yote with it. BigJim makes the prettiest bows. He is a true craftsman with an eye for turning different pieces of wood into a masterpiece.  Its amazing how well they shoot. Im looking forward to seeing more post of your kills with the Thunderchild.
