I want to get an over the shoulder sling type pack and want to hear any recommendations? It will need to carry a water bottle, a days essentials and probably be 1200 cu inches. A strap at the bottom to hold a some clothing would be desirable and quiet material essential.

I have a Horn Hunter pack that is just as you describe. Very happy with it and it came with a detachable side quiver which works well for my primary style of hunting.

I just picked up a Tenzing that I'm fairly happy with, I think it has 1340 ci capacity with a bladder pocket. It has a place to attach a side quiver and a removable bino/range finder pouch which hold my small nikons perfectly. It was right around $100

It seems there are two main contenders. On line, both get mixed ratings. I want something that has an external water bottle pouch, dont need a bladder and a pack that can be used right or left. I tend to favor carrying stuff over my left shoulder.

The Tenzing can be used R or L and there is an external zippered pocket that I think can be used as a water bottle pouch. I'll try to take a pic this evening and post it for ya.

hmm...personally I'd sling my arrows (jack bowyers chief side quiver) and wear a daypack or bison pack.   For me the bison pack is a no brainer..the things rock beyond anything I've worn yet!   They do cost a bit more, but as the saying goes you get what you pay for!

I wear a sling a LOT while fly fishing...and love them!   but they do have limits and hunting imho is not a place I'd wear one.   Maybe its speculation on my part.   but in the grand scheme of things I'm going to have to take it off anyways to get to gear, plus set everything down etc.   Its just easier to be set up that way to begin with.   So the benefit of sliding a sling around is really gone.

Slings ride great...to a point.  When I'm doing more remote trips, and I'm carrying a load, I'm not all that happy with my simms large sling.   When I have a wet hoodie strapped to it (bottom has straps for this), I'd rather have my bison pack all day long!  

A sling may be a better option for a guy like me wearing a side quiver (with the sling on your back), but there comes another problem, multiple straps.  Ie sling, quiver, binos.   I encounter this issue when on remote backpack hunts up here.   It's a pain even with a bino buddy harness.  

The other half is a heavy sling is a pig to get off when you have a pile of gear on, binos etc.  And over the miles becomes uncomfortable as weight increases.

I can go on, but these are the initial thoughts I have on wearing a sling for the things that I do myself.   Sorry if I'm thinking out loud a bit here at your expense.

Think I have the same pack. Very pleased with it as well. Think it was called the Horn Hunter Sling Shot. Not the biggest bag but lots of spots for stuff. Had to buy water bladder seperate, but was set up fot it

Also came with detatchable taratula quiver

unless you need camo also look at courier type bags like you get at bike shops.
