I let loose my first shot at a deer with traditional a little over a week ago, and watched it sail cleanly over his back.  It was an awesome experience, and helped me figure out a new shooting position I should practice from.  I'm just happy I had an opportunity.

I have missed the same deer twice.  its part of the fun and try to see the good news that you didnt wound and lose the deer.  Because that hurts worse

Years ago... I shot at the same Doe 3 times!!!

I had to scare her away, to go get my arrows...   :help:
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

Missed twice this year so far. I'd love to say that I have the mental capacity to get a second shot off after the first miss but I'm like a bowl of jello in an earthquake by that time.

Like everyone has said you will miss at this game but that is apart trad hunting alittle more difficult.Just force yourself to always burn a hole in your spot.

When you miss with traditional equipment it hurts more IMO because they usually stand around and let you miss again.

Fred is top Notch.

Keep at it and pick a spot.

Never give up!!! I'm a pretty good shot I've killed a few animals and done pretty well at 3d. Last year I took 5 shots at two deer and missed all shots low. I felt two inches tall. Don't quit

Years ago a young guy came over after he missed 7 times in one morning from a tree stand.  When he ran out of arrows, he climbed down, wiped the tears from his eyes found 6 of his arrows back and came to my house for sympathy and did not get any.  He insisted on holding his bow vertical and never practices from a tree stand.  We flopped a stand in my tree at the height that his was and put out a deer target.  The tight wad never has any practice arrows, so i let him use some of mine.  i played arrow delivery boy while he shot at my target.  After nearly 100 arrows he gave in, canted the bow, found his sighting frame of mental reference, got a rhythm going and starting hitting.  Then he declared that was the way he was shooting all along
and did not need to change anything after all.

Only twice? lol. I missed one doe...3x, within a half hour. All shots were high, w/longbow.

I hit  a nice 8 in Kentucky on a hunt with Big Jim, but too high.  I tend to hit high from a tree stand. I'm going to start aiming at the heart. My son told me the last 2 deer he missed, he shot over.
Some people talk about jumping the string, but my target don't jump. If I aim at the heart and hit high or he jumps. I'll still be in the lungs. GOOD HUNTING

Hey misses happen, keep at it!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Misses bother me every bit as much as a wound. Because I know I did something wrong and plain got lucky. If I miss twice I am done shooting at animals until I am confident I know why and can hit a 4 to 5 inch circle again. Too much deer between a clean miss and a kill to work out shooting issues practising on a live target.
