Does anyone shoot the old snuffers heads with carbon arrows.

habujohn

Yes I still shoot my old snuffers on an Easton Axis 340 carbon shaft.  Shoot 57# out of my habu T/D.  they fly great and do a lot of damage.

What kind of adaptor are you using?

Tajue17

I do from a few bows that like the same heritage 90 shaft.

160gr snuffer and 100gr steel screw-in adaptor with 10gr filed off the front to make an even 250gr total head weight,, I file a bit of the tip down too.

when you say old do you mean original Rotharr snuffers or Magnus?  I'm shooting the Magnus yellow pkg versions

I use the screw in long broadhead adapter, it weights about 28 grains.

Thanks for the info. Im going to try and get one to spin with the adaptors I have. The ferrule of the broadhead is so big that the adaptor goes 3/4 into it which leaves part of the ferrule around the shaft if that makes sense.

Tajue17

just a guess your adaptors might be 5/16 and the snuffer ferrule is 11/32.

honestly though if they spin true they will still work fine, the insert on the end of the shaft should still seat up inside the ferrule of the snuffer against the insert,,,,,, when you fit everything together using hot melt and the arrow is still a little hot just spin the arrow with broadhead on a hard surface and if it wobbles hold the shaft tight and turn the broadhead a tad on the insert and repeat till you find the sweet spot....... I have a one piece broadhead a used G5 but anything will do to test my arrows first to be sure the insert is perfectly straight before broadhead spin testing.

I shoot 125 glue ons with a 125 steel adapter on Victory HV 350 fly like a dart and have a good efoc penetration has been awesome.

The big reason I like the long broadhead adaptor is how it fits the snuffer.  I do have to tweak them as I mount them with hot melt to be sure they spin true.  Once mounted they are shot before they get sharpened up.  No excuse to miss, it is all up to the shooter.
