I'm new to hunting still new to archery in general I guess as I've only been doing it a few years.  I've gone hunting a few times and I was fortunate enough to pick the minds of some fellow members when I first got started.  I went hunting back then and then had to take two years off due to family and well three kids put a crimp in everything but they are worth it.  A friend told me that I had to make time if I really wanted to hunt so this year I'm making time, I got a late start this season but I'm really enjoying it.  Been out scouting and hunting a few times, scared a few dear walking in the dark but haven't even had the chance to aim at one yet.  I figure it will happen in time.

My question is how do you hunt?  Do you use a tree stand, ground blind or stalk?  I can't help myself, I like to stalk and can't see myself in a tree stand or a ground blind waiting for the chance to take a shot.  Yes its incredibly tough especially here in the northeast in the fall, lots  of dry  dead leaves on the ground make stalking difficult to say the least and probably not the best way to start hunting.  But I really enjoy it.  I'm curious how many others like to hunt this way and I'm open to any advice anyone can give me about hunting.  Thanks.

You ought to think about allowing multiple choices!   :)    :)
I like to do all of those depending on the situation and also like to still hunt.

Yep a good hunter has lots of tricks up his sleeve from spot and stalk, to tree stands, to drives and all sorts in between. Good luck man! Mostly a ground pounder here not for any real reason other than I despise lugging about a stand! Lol

My question is how do you hunt?
Poorly most of the time..... :)
The best thing about owning a dog is that someone is happy when you come home.

Jeremy - all bowhunters like to walk through the woods with a bow - I think it is important to understand when a bowhunter sits a blind or treestand there is WAY more scouting than sitting if these methods are done correctly. We don't sit a blind  or tree unless we "know" game is coming due to fresh sign or sightings.
We stalk in areas where it is productive and stand hunt in areas where this method excels

I try them all.  But have shot my two deer from a tree stand.  Haven't even gotten close to a shot any other way.  That being said I moved my ground blind today in hopes of getting close to does and a scrape line...

I don't stalk. 95% I'm In a tree. 5% on the ground.

It depends on the situation...I prefer to stalk and still hunt, but conditions don't always allow for it. A ground blind made of natural cover is my 2nd favorite -n- up in a tree is my least favorite.

Can't vote because I do two out of three. Need a better poll.

I did not vote because I do all three and enjoy the different aspects each offers.

Would never limit my self to one style so no vote. I have killed many animals all three ways but I'm a old guy!    :bigsmyl:

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

Everyone will answer different but I hunt by the weather. I don't know your age but a tree is the most relaxing and offers your best opportunity to get a good shot, the reason I said age is the older you get the more you see out of a tree. (I hate to think of all the action I missed when I was 10 years younger)
But if we have a steady drizzle or has just rained you will see me in the ground and boy is it fun.

Stand hunting is good for the guy/gal who needs to be occupied, lots to see from up there, it's even better with a pair of binocs.
I primarily use a ground blind now, 64 years old, looking at foot surgery, more comfy on the ground.          After a rain, I'll still hunt/stalk.
...because bow hunting always involves the same essentials. One hunter. One arrow. One animal. -Don Thomas

IMHO circumstances predict how we hunt so I didn't vote

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

I mostly stand hunt for deer.  Small game is hike, spot, and stalk.  Sometimes deer is spot and stalk.  Never in ground blind.
