Is it possible??

I 'm on the look-out for some. Dont know if there's any out there but sure would like some spined about 50 pounds to compliment my wifes Christmas bow. If'n I cant find em walnut footed POC would do.

Gatekeeper

I know of one place but they will cost you a pretty penny and they are not pre-spined. These are hardwood dowels and they only sell them 3/8" diameter or larger but, they will sand them down to the diameter that you want and not charge for the service.

Jim, I shot some 45-50# poc arrows w/125 up front out of it yesterday flew great too, it's a shooter..Hows 35@27-ok?
Don't know about the walnut shafts, but I'm looking for some walnut or bloodwood footed laminated shafts, maybe we can buy some dowells and have someone foot the shafts for us,Steve

I wouldn't think walnut would make much of an arrow.  It's a fairly brittle wood.

Make some. 3 rivers has a gizmo that turns 3/8" square stock into round for only a little over $500 bucks. Christmas time is almost here. Let us know how that thing works.

Have heard of hickory, but not walnut...would be pretty, though!

greenie

neat idea! I'm guessing that they would make a good stong arrow. I've seen my 300lb mother-in-law sit on a delicate little walnut stool. that was impressive.

I have used walnut Reparrow footings, they are tough.

I used to make walnut arrows occasionally.  They seem to have a lot of spring and made good arrows.  It did seem to very in spine quite a bit from one piece of wood to another.  They are moderately heavy.  Of all the hardwoods I have tried, I liked the walnut the best.

If ya cannot find some, just use a dark Walnuy stain, as ya know it will lighten up but ya could rub on a few coats. Ya could even look at the bow Steve made for ya and match it. Shawn

You definitely would want the "premium" and that stuff is expensive. Probably not the best wood for arrows if you are shooting it through a longbow. Would want a bow that was center cut. I don't think it would bend well around a riser.

I have a walnut footed aspen arrow with walnut footed self nock that Art B gave me.    Pat

Walnut makes a great arrow.  Have shot some hand planed walnut arrows with both a longbow and recurve and they perform very well.  Lee Valley sells a Veritas dowel maker for around 20 or 30 bucks that will turn square stock into 3/8" round and you can sand from there.

How about walnut footed shafts. Anybody know where a guy can get some?

Without going to alot of trouble I'll proly go with walnut stained cedars like mentioned above. You never know untill you ask.

Jim now in Kentucky

Reparrow footings, or I  could turn out  11/32 walnut  shafts, but wouldn't  want to get heavily into producing  them.
