Where do you  buy your silk long underwear? I have a set I got from Cabelas several years ago,  but it is pretty well worn out. They no longer sell 100% silk long Johns in a heavyweight material. Looking for a new set that won't kill my wallet.

Might try Winter Silks.  I have some from Land's End, but they are not heavy weight.

Look at the ski catalogs. Also, Sportmans' Guide often has them for less than other vendors. Do any of the sponsors carry them?

I have Winter silks. Pure silk doesn't come in heavy weight, to my knowledge.  Heavyweight is usually a silk blend.  Regardless, Winter silks is good stuff. Think you can order off their website.

I have purchased them from REI before.
Sometimes they are just enough.

I bought mine from Dharma Trading company. All white knits and then dyed them green.

This. They are a great item I bought 2 complete sets for about $40 during their clearance sale.

I have never needed a heavy weight silk, as the lighter stuff is surprisingly effective. It just doesn't normally get all that cold in Georgia. But, on those few times when we get really cold, I put on a medium weight merino wool long handle set and that is extremely warm. Also, this combo is not unduly bulky.

Save yourself some money and just try a set of women's tights, or even panty hose.  You may get some ribbing over it, but they work just as well as silk long johns.

I'd like to see that...or not!
But Kirk is right, it works.

Aren't ladies panty hose poly?   I think the advantage of silk is it doesn't retain odor, yet still wicks like poly.

I have about a dozen different sets from over the years from a variety of sources.   Some are so thread bare you can practically see through them.   I even have a women's set that are pink!  I Bought them at a ski closeout for next to nothing.

Yes the pantyhose recommendation does work well.  My HS football coach told us about it for the late season games when the temp dropped.  I think they work on the same concept as the nylon sleeves you get at the hospital after surgery to keep blood flowing and preventing clots, that's my theory.

The problem with panty hose is the ridicule from others in deer camp. I get enough grief as it is from them about silk. They don't care if it works, they just like to razz anybody about anything.

Now that I think about it, that didnt come out very good at all.  Haha

Real silk panty hose are SOOO comfortable that you will never want to take them off, but WARNING, don't go commando  with silk panty hose they are see through.
i just Googled silk panty hose for men, by George there is such a thing, but I did not dare to open any of the sites.  Now I am all creeped out and thinking good ole scratchy reconstituted wool and man made fibers is the way to go..

Looks like I may have  started something strange here.
